I purchased a used 2020 Mazda CX-5 with roughly 40,000 miles from Herb Chambers Lincoln of Norwood at the end of April. The sales experience was very good and Ryan was very helpful, addressing a few cosmetic issues before pick-up. The car had a clean Carfax and I was assured that a complete inspection had been done. Just about two weeks later, my son took the car on a 2400-mile drive for an internship in Texas. About 8 hours into the drive, the oil pressure light came on and he stopped at the nearest service station. The shop found a dry dipstick caused by a failed oil pan gasket and also a broken rear shock. He paid $1,200 for the repairs that took most of the day. I find it hard to believe that these items failed in the few weeks and few hundred miles since the claimed thorough inspection but the dealership has so far refused to offer any help or take any responsibility. Just a week or so ago, I took the car to a Mazda dealer for an oil change, and they found that the cabin air filter was clogged with leaves and debris that had obviously accumulated over a long period of time. Surely that's another thing that would have been seen if Herb Chambers really did a comprehensive inspection before sale. The whole experience has left me very disappointed with the Herb Chambers company. I posted a similar review on Google and the General Manager, Peter Hern, responded almost immediately. He asked me to contact him by email so we could discuss the problem and how he could assist. I've sent four emails to him over the past month but have yet to hear back. I'm wondering if that is their way of making it look like they are actually working with the customer. More
