So awful I don't even know where to start. (Most of the people on this page giving positive reviews must work for Herb Chambers) It's bad when you walk into a place for service and you see a service writer people on this page giving positive reviews must work for Herb Chambers) It's bad when you walk into a place for service and you see a service writer and an irrate customer arguing. I was ignored for 25 minutes while repeated asking an employee for some service ("I'll get someone right away" he kept telling me). Out of this world pricing (bring your own Vasaline because they will definitely charge you for using theirs). Took forever to fix a minor problem with my car. Less than 2 weeks later the "check engine" light came back on after a $1300 bill. Complete dirtbags!!!!! Avoid this place! Try Foreign West instead. More
this guy was extremely rude to the man in front of me, waiting to get his car fixed. Quote, "I don't have a magic wand to just fix your car". At this point, I realized this was likely to be a difficult waiting to get his car fixed. Quote, "I don't have a magic wand to just fix your car". At this point, I realized this was likely to be a difficult experience. But I never imagined that it would get as bad as it did. Besides the fact that this guy called me an sshole, gave me the finger, and basically acted like a third grader, to make it worse, he stated they couldn't fix my car and I'd have to go somewhere else. I'm not sure what the standard is for a BMW dealership, but I can tell you, Jim Miscioscia and Herb Chambers BMW of Boston are pretty awful. More
They blew my GPS while trying to resolve an electrical issue and blamed it on my alledged "aftermarket" modifications. BMW N/A, after looking into the issue, covered my expenses. Never go to this dealer or their others in their network (Foreign Motors West was bought last summer). I was reluctant to bring my car here for service because I was convinced their service techs were moron (Foreign Motors West was bought last summer). I was reluctant to bring my car here for service because I was convinced their service techs were morons - they cracked my hardtop by over tightening it when I brought it in for rattling and fitment issues - they made the problem worse and never owned up to it...charged me $150 to boot. Recently, I took my 2nd BMW with a factory warranty in for a battery drain issue. Service technicians did not even bother to diagnose the problem. They said "just a weak battery" and that it needs a trickle charge. Kept me waiting 1:30 in the waiting area only to tell me they'd need to keep it overnight. Received it back the next day only to have it completely drain in two days. Scheduled another visit, this time they keep my car overnight without even a courtesy call during the day to tell me that the car wouldn't be ready. I had to page and war-dial the svc advisor to get his a$$ on the phone. When I ask, "Sooo...i'm going to assume I won't have my car back today", he says rather curtly, "Your car's not ready." What a d0uche. The next day, the service advisor (he's an asst Service Mgr) called me and accused me of installing aftermarket parts (previous owner installed a subwoofer but did not remove wire on trade-in) and threatened to redflag my vehicle to void its warranty. On top of that, he says he will charge me 4-hrs diagnosis labor charge. I argued with him about his attitude and tone and that he should be careful who he accuses of doing anything. He counters with "Are you a BMW technician? Are you certified to work on BMWs? No...that's what I thought." Then he adds later "go take your car some place else". The stupid pr!ck calls that customer service?! He changed his tune when I rushed down there to face him in person. He then whispers to me that he usually tells customers who put on "custom mufflers to take them off before they bring them in." What the hell do I look like? A SEMA show racer boy customizer? By this time, i'm livid and demand he release my car. Never have I experienced a more unpleasant service appointment...ever. I won't go into how bad their sales guys are, but others have echoed the "if you're not a young middle eastern BU student and pay with a briefcase of cash" then you're SOL in terms of getting any attention or fair deal from them. I ended up taking my car to BMW Gallery of Norwood. They went the extra mile and actually diagnosed the problem, explained what they did during the diagnosis, called regularly with updates, and was genuinely helpful. They found the problem, informed me that the subwoofer wire was no issue at all, and offered a loaner on the next visit. Don't bother with those idiots at Herb Chambers BMW of Boston. I live only 1 mile from them, but I'll go 15 miles out of my way to take it to a dealer who actually corrects a problem and offers good customer service. More
I have leased two BMWs from Herb Chambers so far, (over the past 5 years). Most of my service visits have been for regular maintenance but even on the occasion of flat tires, venture shield repairs, spring the past 5 years). Most of my service visits have been for regular maintenance but even on the occasion of flat tires, venture shield repairs, springs, leaky washer fluid check valves and warning lights, the service department has gone out of their way to schedule visits in short order and even let me drive in immediately to handle the issues. Every single time (without exception) from the person answering the phone to the final explanation or transaction I have been treated with respect. My car is always done on time, and I have not had any issues with any of the work. The service industry is one of the toughest to work in especially in a technically challenging environment such as automobiles. The people at Herb Chambers deal with some of the most stuck-up, disgruntled, and ignorant people I have ever met and from what I have seen they all handle each case with professionalism (beyond the limits of any normal human being's tolerance). They take the time to explain the situation surrounding the repair so that it can be understood, and put in the extra hours and effort it takes to fix the issue timely. I have and will continue to recommend Herb Chambers for services and sales. More
My car went in for regular service, service that should have taken an hour or two... I got it back with pen on the leather part of the door (I have a light interrior)... called them 2x got no response or c have taken an hour or two... I got it back with pen on the leather part of the door (I have a light interrior)... called them 2x got no response or call back - took the BMW of America survey, told them my complaint ... heard back the next day from Fabio- He said that the dealership wanted to give me a free interrior detail- ... We brought the car in the next day at 9am. At 4 we contacted them to schedule a pickup time. The first thing i was ask is do you have a spare key. Having 4 numbers to contact no one had contact me all day to let me know they locked the key in the car, instead they tried to JIMMY THEIR WAY into my 2007 car, just over yr old!--- They destroyed the door, two windows, dented the roof... GOSH ONLY KNOWS WHAT WENT ON! .... DONT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE! More
I took our BMW 530xi for annual service, even though the car's electronics said I had another 2800 miles to go until oil-change. Ali Kooros was my Service Advisor. He promptly handled the transaction, check car's electronics said I had another 2800 miles to go until oil-change. Ali Kooros was my Service Advisor. He promptly handled the transaction, checked the car's keycode, and then assured me that the annual oil change would be done in 1.5 hours. Exactly 90 minutes later, he found me in the waiting area, and put me back in my newly-cleaned car with a smile and a handshake, and told me how he valued my business. I don't think you could have a better service visit. More
The visit today was the final one, the arrogance and rudeness is too much. I had several visits here, from great to terrible. My service experience with Chambers' service dept had been excellent and de rudeness is too much. I had several visits here, from great to terrible. My service experience with Chambers' service dept had been excellent and deteriorated to the point that I won't go back. When I first went there, it was an urgent small fix that a very decent service rep took care of right in the driveway, he didn't even enter the car into their database. The next time, the tech test drove and agreed with me and fixed an expensive item. The next time, they made stuff up about how another problem was not actually a problem and it was normal. BS. They adjusted the parking brake, then on the way home the car started jittering and banging and I had to stop. I drove home slowly, no other problems. I jacked up the car and tried to spin the rear wheels and guess what, they were binding with the parking brake! So much for quality work. The mechanic could have at least spun the wheel to check it but no. Another independent mechanic drove it and said a part was really messed up on the suspension, and showed me. Jim et al said they couldn't see it, the tech was lazy acting and unconcerned, and they were very rude about how any tech other than their own could diagnose a fault. I was reminded how this mechanic is an "expert BMW service technician"... the guy who did the parking brake? Then, telling me "it's normal for that model of car", then "well I don't see anything wrong"; well which is it, normal or non-existant? As long as you leave, that's all that they want. Condescending, challenging the customer, constantly reminding me how much they did for me and how much time they spend, I feel guilty for bothering them. Forget that place. The worst thing you can do is tell a customer he's wasting your time. In summary, Chambers is good for scheduled services like oil changes, avoid them if you have a problem. More
THIS DEALERSHIP IS GREAT. GOOD PEOPLE, NICE LOCATION ON COMMONWEALTH AVE, REASONABLE PRICING FOR DOWNTOWN BOSTON. EVERYTIME I HAVE BROUGHT MY X5 IN (I BOUGHT IT THERE AND HAVE HAD IT SERVICED THERE SINCE COMMONWEALTH AVE, REASONABLE PRICING FOR DOWNTOWN BOSTON. I purchased a 330xi from another dealer in another state, unfortunately, it has some electrical quirks. I always take in for servicing to Chris at Herb Chambers, he consistantly takes excellent care of me. unfortunately, it has some electrical quirks. I always take in for servicing to Chris at Herb Chambers, he consistantly takes excellent care of me. I had a failed engine thermometer last week, and my wood shifter had a crack in it to no fault of mine. The thermometer was fixed in excellent time, and they replaced my shifter w/out any issue. Every time I have an issue (probly twice a year), I call and schedule for Chris. Jim took care of me a couple times when Chris was away, and he did an excellent job as well. I do know the prices at this dealership are a little higher though due to their conveniant location, and probly due to taxes in the city as well at their location which are passed on to customers. Either way, still an excellent service experience. More
