I called Herb Chambers BMW on a Saturday morning because my 2003 325Ci had suddenly starting running like crap - it shook violently and seemed like it wasn't running on all six cylinders. Their service dep my 2003 325Ci had suddenly starting running like crap - it shook violently and seemed like it wasn't running on all six cylinders. Their service department was open on Saturday, unlike every other dealer in the area, and said to bring it in that day and they'd take a look at it on Monday. BMW Roadside Assistance came by with a flatbed and dropped me and the car off at the dealership, I explained the problem and some other issues I was having to SA Chris Anslono, and took the train home.

Five hours later, at 5:15 PM, I got a call saying my car had been fixed (failed ignition coils). Chris was kind enough to stay an hour past their closing time for me to come pick the car up.

Obviously there are some horror stories about them, but my experience with the Herb Chambers Service Dept. was top-notch. Even though I'm still in my teens and didn't buy the car from them, they treated me with respect and courtesy, and performed the work faster than I had hoped.

They also obeyed my request not to wash the car, which most other dealerships seem to have trouble with. I will definitely be going back. More

The rear brakes have been squealing for two months. Also, when I last took the car in, the service department (at a different dealership) had told me that the rear springs were broken and needed to be fixed under warranty.

I made an appointment two weeks back with Herb Chambers BMW to have these two problems addressed. I took the car in today and was told that if they looked at the car and "were not able to replicate the problem", I would have to pay for the costs of inspecting the car.

I proceeded to explain that the car was covered under the warranty & maintenance plan, the car had a problem, and they ought to diagnose and fix the problem free of charge. I was told that they would be unable to look at the car unless I agreed to pay the potential charge for the inspection.

Needless to say, I took my car and left. The worst part is that I bought the car from Herb Chambers too--and I have received much better service from other dealerships over the last two years.

I do hope that someone at BMW will take note of this matter. For those in the Boston area, I would suggest that you avoid the Herb Chambers service department if possible. They will waste your time and give you the run around. More
