Michael Halls went out of his way to make sure we had all the information we needed to make an informed decision. We had been to another dealer before Gene Reed, but Mike knew much more about the car, and ca the information we needed to make an informed decision. We had been to another dealer before Gene Reed, but Mike knew much more about the car, and called to follow up way before the other dealer got in touch (but not so soon as to be annoying!). He made my first experience of buying a new car a very comfortable one, and I feel I've made a friend as well! Mike is great, and we'll definitely recommend him to others. More
I believe Mike Halls is a very good sales representative. Experienced and knowledgeable in all subjects that I needed personal assistance with. Before going to look at vehicles I always do research online to Experienced and knowledgeable in all subjects that I needed personal assistance with. Before going to look at vehicles I always do research online to find prices, ratings, and reviews in order to be more versed during the sale. Gene Reed's prices did not vary much from the average and I was satisfied with the listed prices. Mr. Halls was able to assist me throughout the process and did not try to take advantage of me. From this excellent personalized and friendly customer experience I have to give this dealer 5 stars. More
Great service. Very friendly. My first experience at a car dealer and it was not the nightmare that my friends warned my about. The process was dealt with in a timely manner and the employees at Gene Reed car dealer and it was not the nightmare that my friends warned my about. The sales staff I spoke with were patient, understood my needs and presented me with several options. Every question I had was answered quickly and honestly. I had a clear budget, stood firm by what I knew I could afford, and Gene Reed toyota met that with ease. It only took one trip to the dealership... scoping out cars, stamping out a price, and pushing through financing. I literally had my keys within an hour of arriving and was driving off in my new car. Hands down, the smoothest car buying experience I've ever had. More
Extensive negotiation process - four hours to be exact. High pressure sales and in the end I really think I ended up gettin ______ but going through with it was MY fault and I regret it but I needed/wanted High pressure sales and in the end I really think I ended up gettin ______ but going through with it was MY fault and I regret it but I needed/wanted the car. They gave me $2000 less on trade in value then other dealerships on top of the fact I was upside down on my other loan (give me a break folks). A couple months after purchase had to take it in for service (malfunctioning radio). Service tech says "Oh, your CDs are skipping" which I knew better. I argued with him for 10 minutes (after they had the car all day to troubleshoot) and he still stood his ground that his tech drove it and that's what it was even though I had been driving it for 2 months and the thing went off when the RADIO was on and stayed off for a long time, as well as the CD player and I KNEW it was not "skipping". So I drove off, NOT happy. Seriously, not 2 minutes out of the parking lot, the radio malfunctioned. I immediately called the service tech back and left a message to order a new radio. He did not call back. After a few days, I called again. He then confirmed he had ordered it and it would be 2 weeks before it was in, which I think is ridiculous. One - he should have returned my call same day and gave me a status and Two - it shouldn't take 2 weeks to get a new radio in. THEN another few weeks later I have another issue that requires me to contact Customer Service. They provide email addresses. I'm a busy person and I prefer to do alot of my business over the internet and its a good way to document transaction. I e-mailed customer service 4 days ago and have not received a reply. That's unacceptable. More
I went to Gene Reed Toyota in North Charleston, SC looking for a 2006 Corolla. I found a 2006 Corolla S with about 5,000 miles on it that I really liked. There was a very nice salesman named Mark that looking for a 2006 Corolla. I found a 2006 Corolla S with about 5,000 miles on it that I really liked. There was a very nice salesman named Mark that test drove it with me. He understood my needs and my motivation for buying. He quoted me a price of 16,000 and some change. We proceeded to the office where we could work on a deal and he took my keys (a usual tactic to get you to stay) so they could look at my camry (that I was trading). In the meantime, he had his manager come talk to me. The shady, very stereotypical "used car salesman" manager noted that I was a single mother and low and behold he was a single parent too! (I don't appreciate him getting that personal with me and mimicking my lifestyle). Amongst all the b.s. this guy was selling me he informed me that Mark had made a mistake. The Carolla S was REALLY $21,000 and some change! Even though a 2007 Corolla is nowhere near that price! In essesnce, because I was a single woman shopping alone, the manager at Gene Reed Toyota in Charleston assumed I was a moron and would buy his overpriced car or be talked into buying a brand new '07 Corolla, which he would make a better commission on. I want to note that I have talked to three people in addition to the shady manager and NONE were appologetic. All they cared about was whether or not I wanted the car, not the fact that I they had offended me. More
