My wife and I bought a 2008 Sequoia March of 2008. At the time of purchase we were promised by Ed (our salesman) that my parents would receive a check for $100.00 for a referral fee, since he bought a 20 the time of purchase we were promised by Ed (our salesman) that my parents would receive a check for $100.00 for a referral fee, since he bought a 2008 Tundra from Gene Reed in Jan. 2008. I spoke with Ed twice after the sale and was promised it would be "in the mail". A few months went by with no check, so I started asking Patrick (Ed's Supervisor) about the check and was promised it would be taken care of. We took my wife's Sequoia in for its 10k mile service in early January (what a disaster that was). At that time I discussed the matter with Ronald Hannon and was promised it would be taken care of again. It is a shame for this little thing to put such a bad taste in our mouth for Gene Reed Toyota, I own a construction company and it is the little details that separate the men from the boys and Gene Reed Toyota is still in the little boys category in my opinion. Toyota is the only brand of vehicle I will own because they do pay attention to those little details. I am proud to say I drive a 2007 Tundra that I bought from another dealer and at this point should have made the drive to Orangeburg to buy the Sequoia also. Ben More
Ron Hannon was a competent and knowledgeable salesman to work with, comfortable dealing with me over the phone. After two weeks of visiting dealers and test driving cars across Charleston, I called him and work with, comfortable dealing with me over the phone. After two weeks of visiting dealers and test driving cars across Charleston, I called him and explained that I knew exactly what I wanted. Within a few minutes, he had located six new '08 4runners, which had rebates of $4000.00, obviously saving me more of an expense of purchasing an '09. The other local Toyota dealer never mentioned these were available. He knew I needed it within two days for our daughter's birthday present- no problem. Everyone we met that night was friendly and did not complain about staying late. Ron Hannon receives an "excellent" rating in all categories from my husband and me. Janet Sosnowski More
My husband and I recently purchased a new car from Gene Reed Toyota and were extremely pleased with the entire experience. The sales staff and management were very friendly and helpful and provided us wit Reed Toyota and were extremely pleased with the entire experience. The sales staff and management were very friendly and helpful and provided us with all the information that we needed to choose our vehicle and come to an agreement on price. We never felt rushed or pressured to make any decision, but once we made our choice the process was quick and easy and we left the dealership in our new Toyota. I would recommend this dealship to anyone. More
This is the second time my family has purchased a car from Gene Reed Toyota and we could not have left there happier! We were looking for a Jeep Wrangler for our son's birthday and had arleady checked o from Gene Reed Toyota and we could not have left there happier! We were looking for a Jeep Wrangler for our son's birthday and had arleady checked out most of the dealerships in town. That night we got online and decided to try ebay. Long story short, Gene Reed Toyota popped up with the car we wanted. The price was about average from all we had seen around town, but we knew going into this exactly what we wanted and who to talk to. Great job guys! I will keep coming your way for all our future cars! More
I bought a used Highlander from Gene Reed Toyota a while ago and was definately pleased with my experience. Sean was awesome and Ron Hannon helped seal the deal wth resonable price to finance. The kicker w ago and was definately pleased with my experience. Sean was awesome and Ron Hannon helped seal the deal wth resonable price to finance. The kicker was six months later while I was on vacation with my family and the car completely died on me. Admittedly, I had been driving her a bit hard. The only place available at the time was the local repair shop. I paid enough for them to get her running and managed to make it back to Charleston. Not only did Gene Reed give me the complete runthrough of what needed to be fixed but they were honest enough to run down the bare minimum list to keep me driving. Now everything is running great! Thanks guys! More
I bought an 08 scion tc from Gene Reed Toyota a while ago and at my last service they recommended I check out dealer rater. Everything has been going great since the car was new when i got it. Other than t and at my last service they recommended I check out dealer rater. Everything has been going great since the car was new when i got it. Other than the regular service. we added nitrogen to the tires because the air pressure guages are a bit sensitive. So far , I'm completely satisfied and will continue using Gene Reed Toyota! More
Followup review was not the experience I had with the company. My opinion of Gene Reed Toyota has not changed. I think the service there is representative of a sickness which prevails throughout the au company. My opinion of Gene Reed Toyota has not changed. I think the service there is representative of a sickness which prevails throughout the auto industry. Mr Bolz was coourteous but totally unsympathetic to my situation and became defensive when I suggested his company was anything but forthright with the service department. It is my contention that services were rendered that were not necessary and not thouroughly explained. Profit being the motive and commision driven this is not an environment that lends itself to always looking out for the customer. I explained that while I understood the need to stand behind the company, it was I who had been wronged. With this in mind my effort to disuade prospective buyers from purchasing a Toyota product will contuinue. Thank You ed cawthorn More
I would never purchase or recommend the purchase of ant Toyota product based on the unscrupulous business practices of service department. December 1,2008 a basic check visit ended up in a nearly $700 bill Toyota product based on the unscrupulous business practices of service department. December 1,2008 a basic check visit ended up in a nearly $700 bill only half of which was explained or necessary. After beig sure I was aware of expiration of warranty additional problems just kept coming. You should be ashamed of such underhanded practices. Ed Cawthorn geegong@netzero.com More
Stopped by your dealership to look for purchase an economical commuter car. Found a 2006 Camry that interested me and all I wanted was a price on the vehicle. Was told that only a Sales Manager coul economical commuter car. Found a 2006 Camry that interested me and all I wanted was a price on the vehicle. Was told that only a Sales Manager could give me a price. Went inside while the salesman went behind a door and emerged with a laptop. Then a 2nd salesman/manager was called over to enter information, then a 3rd salesman/manager was called over to enter more information. Then the salesman had to go to a back room and get the printout which he then took the the 3rd salesman/manager that was at the laptop. Meanwhile I stood there for 15 minutes still waiting for a price on the vehicle, with my patience gone, I left the dealership came home went on your website and within 2 minutes had the price on the vehicle I was looking at. I would have been more interested in purchasing the vehicle if I had not been made to feel like I was an inconvienience and ignored. Telling me thank you for your patience only made my patience wear thinner. Why does it take so long at the dealership just to get a price on a vehicle? This first impression certainly made me reconsider what dealership I would purchase a vehicle from. More

On a holiday weekend, there was one man who you had to see to buy a new car. We had to wait 4 hours to even talk to him, and after all of that he refused to budge by $1 on the price of the vehicle. The salesman who we first worked with actually claimed that Toyota took a loss on every Prius they sold, ensuring that we didn't believe anything else he said. So we asked for a new salesman, who we did like much more. We use the dealer to maintain the Prius, since I am not sure that quick lube places have enough experience with hybrids. They do an acceptable job changing the oil and rotating the tires, and the staff is friendly. However, each visit they come up with another bogus recommendation (transmission flush at 15,000 miles? The owners manual doesn't recommend one at any mileage) I should mention that this primarily occurs when my wife brings in the car. In addition to recommending the unnecessary services, they email and mail little reminders about all of the 'recommended maintenance' that we need, and I'm certain it is all going on the carfax report. Sorry Gene Reed, I think we'll head to another dealer to purchase our next Toyota. More
