I must admit that buying a new car from Gene Reed Toyota was a pretty good experience. John Cole was easy to work with and the support staff did a decent job. I found that Gene Reed doesn't employ as many sales tactics as most dealers. Sure they work the dealer invoice angle and try to pretend you're getting such a good deal but it wasn't as painful as most dealerships. Plus they have to make some money. The only negative experience was with the whole paint and interior protection spray. I didn't think that stuff still went on in 2009. I guess some tactics are making a comeback. Overall, they do a pretty good job at Gene Reed. I am happy with my experience and would recommend them to other potential buyers. More
I evaluated the cost of a major service of our Lexus at several sources, and Gene Reed Toyota seemed to be among the lowest. When I called to get information, I was put in touch with David Pugh, who retur several sources, and Gene Reed Toyota seemed to be among the lowest. When I called to get information, I was put in touch with David Pugh, who returned calls within a few minutes, answered detailed questions about the service, arranged the scheduling (including a loaner), and was in touch with us during the day when the need for additional service was identified. The work was completed on time and, at least now, late in the day the service was completed, seems to have been handled well. I certainly will consider having future work done by contacting David. More
Back in 2005, we had an absolutely horrific experience at Gene Reed Toyota. So much so that we had not ventured returning there since. We purchased several vehicles form West Ashley Toyota, but they had a Gene Reed Toyota. So much so that we had not ventured returning there since. We purchased several vehicles form West Ashley Toyota, but they had a complete staff turnover and had become so bad that we stopped going there too. Last weekend, we stopped into the dreaded Gene Reed, as we were looking to trade our Suzuki Grand Vitara for a second truck. We were approached by David Reed, who heard all about our previous experience at Gene Reed. He introduced us to his Sales manager, Richard Sommers. What a great guy! He worked really hard to make right the awful experience we had had previously.He pulled out the "kid gloves" and treated us with much respect and dignity and addressed all of our concerns very promptly. We ended up with a great 2007 Tacoma PreRunner that we are very pleased with ans it took us longer to decide which vehicle we were going to purchased than it took to process the deal. It is safe to say that our next vehicle purchase will be at Gene Reed Toyota--as long as our team is there to take care of us! I cannot begin to tell you how PLEASED we were with Brandi, Don and Barry. They were all very professional, kind, and NON-PUSHY. I came to this dealership to get a 25K mile service. I like that they were open late to fit around my busy schedule. Great service department. I bought a car from West Ashley, however, because the prices on new cars seemed better. However, the service center at Gene Reed is much better. West Ashely is too crowded, and the waiting room is too small. More

Ron Hannon was extremely helpful in guiding me through the vehicle selection decison process. I originally went to this dealership since it is the area's COSTCO Auto Program partner, and I am very satisfi the vehicle selection decison process. I originally went to this dealership since it is the area's COSTCO Auto Program partner, and I am very satisfied with Toyota reliability. I was looking for a 2-year old Camry Hybrid, and also interested in a new Prius. Ron suggested I consider the Prius over the Camry Hybrid if I was looking for significant fuel economy improvement. We test drove the Prius and decided it is too small and light for long trips. I wanted to trade in my 1998 Avalon XLS, which was still in great shape. Several days after my first visit to this dealership, Ron phoned to advise Gene Reed had just received a 2007 Avalon LTD in a trade. We bought this car, given our satisfaction with our 1996 Avalon. Only one problem ... the previous owner was a smoker, and there remained some odor. Ron had Gene Reed's people detail it, but it still had some odor. Ron then paid for professional detailing by the local Service Master. My overal experience with Ron was exceptionally good, and I have recommended him to friends in the market for a new/used car. More

We had a wonderful sales experience with Gene Reed Toyota. They took the time to find the vehicle we wanted and kept us well informed throughout the process, right up to going over the details of my Toyota. They took the time to find the vehicle we wanted and kept us well informed throughout the process, right up to going over the details of my new RAV4 at delivery. When we hadn't agreed on my trade in, Ron came to my office to pick up my old car so I wouldn't have to take the extra time to come by the dealership for them to reassess the trade in. He worked with me to get to a number I could be happy with, and I felt like my wishes, as well as my intelligence, were respected at all times. For the record, I had visited a different Toyota dealer in the area previously when I first started shopping around for a new vehicle, and had felt both bombarded with an overzealous sales manager and insulted by his offer and attitude. It was the total opposite of the great experience we had with Ron and John at Gene Reed. Not only are we likely to go there first when we're ready to replace our other car, I will highly recommend Gene Reed to anyone else I know in the market for a vehicle. More
