This service facililty is not very productive...Not only are they not available on weekends but you can't bring your car in at 2 o'clock and have someone look at it without having to leave your vehicle over are they not available on weekends but you can't bring your car in at 2 o'clock and have someone look at it without having to leave your vehicle overnight...This policy stands and the reps don't even ask why exactly you want to come in...If I needed a bulb changed it would have to wait until tomorrow...That is unexceptable...Also you arrive with one problem and leave with 6...Ridiculous!!!! I have had two horrible experiences with Helms brothers. My first was over ten years ago with a C230. Their service department are complete frauds! The NY post article about the mechanic who stole someones My first was over ten years ago with a C230. Their service department are complete frauds! The NY post article about the mechanic who stole someones car doesn't surprise me. I had my c230 repaired at Helms and made sure to ask them to keep the parts the would replace to ensure they would not repair things unnecessarily and charge my insurance company, leading me to a higher insurance rate. Sure enough, they said that they fixed all sorts of parts they did not and charged me $6500. Sure enough they had none of the parts I asked them to keep. When I pressed the issue, they brought back parts from E classes and other cars trying to fool me. They must have thought I was an idiot. Finally I worked it out that they would refund me $1000. Years since, I figured I would try the sales side to check on pricing. They said they would give me aggressive pricing and get me a great deal where Helms Bros would "only make a little money". Sure enough, their prices were on average $5-$10K higher than other dealers advertised prices. I ultimately bought my car from Sovereign and they did a good job a getting me a good deal so far. More
I have way too much to write, but i'll put it in a nutshell. I had a sales lady who never, NEVER returned phone calls, and would tell me to call her to remind her about things because she was busy, i nutshell. I had a sales lady who never, NEVER returned phone calls, and would tell me to call her to remind her about things because she was busy, i mean who's selling cars here, me or her? After putting my car in a wholesale auction no one ever called me back for the auction results, turns out that my sales lady went on vacation without telling me. I go to the dealer, speak to the sales manager, threaten to go to another dealer for business so they have me speak to another sales guy. He runs up some numbers, tells me the offer from the wholesaler for my trade in and tells me my new c300 will be here in July, its May and has already been a month since we first visited the dealer. My sales lady comes back, tells me the car will be here second week of June the LATEST, she'll call me when the car is in. I plan a family trip for the weekend of the second week of June. Its wednesday of the second week...no phone call. So i call and she says she doubts the car will be in by then, i get mad tell her she told me it will be, im going to pay cancellation fees for my trip she tells me she'll cal me back with updates. Never calls me, i call her, finally my car is in. Every time i speak to her (after hunting her down) she thanks me for my patience. Upon delivery of the car she tells me im going to get a survey online, to just give everyone a good review...and brushed it off. I get the survey...i answer honestly, stating the sales person was not good, i would never buy another car from them, etc. A few days later she calls to say shes dissapointed in the survey and that it cost her in the thousands. Next time stay on top of your job and treat clients with a little more haste and you wont have to ask your customers to lie on a survey and it wont cost you "in the thousands". More
My second brush with Helms Bros was not as pleasant as my first one, far from it, actually. Without going into detail, I brought my car in on a Friday for a problem with my ABS and didn't get it back til Tue first one, far from it, actually. Without going into detail, I brought my car in on a Friday for a problem with my ABS and didn't get it back til Tuesday of the following week, it cost me $2,000 (they found a few more things like leaking bushings and stuff) and when I finally picked it up one of my windows was stuck in a slightly open position and there was complimentary water all over the back seats from the complimentary wash. When I brought up the fact that the window was working fine when I brought the car in, I was treated with a shoulder shrug and a quick quote of another $400 to fix something I'm pretty sure was not broken when I had left the car with them. They didn't have the decency to offer to pay for at least half the job. I left the dealership with my window held closed with SCOTCH TAPE !!! and went to my neighborhood mechanic who sent me to a place that did the job for $275 in a couple of hours, so I didn't have to leave the car til the next day. After I got home the guy from the dealership started calling me trying to get me to go back, talking about giving me a break on the window regulator, but I never returned his calls. Too little too late, guys! I'm not going back there EVER again! More
October 2007 the alternator of my C 240 was not working properly. I brought the car for service at Helms Brothers and when I picked it up the alternator was fixed, but when the car was returned to me th properly. I brought the car for service at Helms Brothers and when I picked it up the alternator was fixed, but when the car was returned to me the air conditioner was not working. When this was brought to the attention, she insisted that it was working. Now that spring is here it is clear that the AC is NOT working. I tried to call to make an appointment for service, and waited on the phone for over 1/2 hour. I left messages and my calls have not been returned. Good luck if you need servic here. More
This dealership is total garbage. They don't even bother to come over and help you. I was walking around the showroom while the poor receptionist was trying to get somebody to help me. She was the only frie to come over and help you. I was walking around the showroom while the poor receptionist was trying to get somebody to help me. She was the only friendly one but too bad she couldn't help me. I saw two salesmen yet they totally ignored even after they saw me looking at the cars. I even saw the receptionist call the sales people's desks and yet they were sitting there ignoring her. The sales manager was sitting in her office chatting on the phone. This dealership is horrible with EXTREMELY BAD customer service. After pondering around by myself, I ended up just walking out. I had such a bad experience I ended up driving all the way to the long island dealership Rallye to happily buy my E350. More
I went to the Helms Bros service department today for a scheduled service on my Benz. I must say the experience was outstanding. From the moment we pulled in to the time we picked up the car two hours late scheduled service on my Benz. I must say the experience was outstanding. From the moment we pulled in to the time we picked up the car two hours later (on a Saturday), my wife and I were treated like VIP's, everyone from the people who greeted us outside and took over the car to the receptionist, to the person who did the paperwork and the cashier, was extremely courteous, helpful and respectful, and the cost of the service performed was totally acceptable. I don't work for Helms Bros, I'm not related to any of them, hadn't even heard of them until a couple of weeks ago, and I don't usually submit reviews of this kind, but I was really very positively impressed and pleasantly surprised, since this is, after all, New York. Waited 1 and 1/2 hrs for my name to even be called after sitting in the waiting room with a sceduled appointment.I Then waited another hour for the shuttle bus to give me a 10 minute ride home. After pickin sitting in the waiting room with a sceduled appointment.I Then waited another hour for the shuttle bus to give me a 10 minute ride home. After picking up my car that Friday afternoon,($500 worth of maintainence repairs later),I was told that the car would require more work but that it was safe to drive over the weekend. Monday morning the muffler was hanging, on my way to a very important court hearing and I could not be late! I was mortified! I took the car to Rallye for the balance of its work. More
I know friends of mine who worked for Helms Bros. It s afunny thing they call it Helms Bros and not Helms sisters. Have u noticed all of upper management are women??? Not to mention the sales manager has afunny thing they call it Helms Bros and not Helms sisters. Have u noticed all of upper management are women??? Not to mention the sales manager has no clue what so ever how to deal with people or sell cars. All she kept telling me about was their beautiful service center. I don t care. I was looking for an automobile. They said they wouldn and couldn t budge on price! Funny. I got the same car at Rallye for over $2500 less(E350 4 matic). Exact same equipment. They play some game with you. Trust me go to Rallye. MUCH, much better pricing, and terrific service people! More
