I stopped by Scholfield one evening to check out a vehicle I saw online. Dan greeted me but knew the car had been sold two days prior. He sensed that I didn't want to deal with a pushy sale-person and let me go without even getting my contact information (hopefully your manager doesn't slap your hand for this). Because I was impressed with his patience and honesty, I came back two days later and said "Help!" He listened to what I needed (V6 SUV capable of towing, good gas mileage, within a certain price range, clean, never smoked in, preferably no kids so it would be clean, a clean title and a great service record). That's asking a lot, I know. But he found it. Everything I asked for! Dan is a great listener, not pushy, very knowledgeable, patient and informative. Overall GREAT experience! Thank you Dan...I LOVE my new Santa Fe! p.s. Thank you Kurt Bull for making the financing fun and getting me a great rate :-) More

Best Car Buying Experience Ever I was in the market to improve my current situation with my 2011 Sonata and was willing to downsize to put myself in a better financial position. I ha I was in the market to improve my current situation with my 2011 Sonata and was willing to downsize to put myself in a better financial position. I had already been to several other dealerships in town, including the Scholfield Hyundai East location. When I got to Scholfield Hyundai West, Matt Watson, the salesman I dealt with, was involved in a conversation with what appeared to be a friend, but very well could have been a customer. I saw this as a sign of things to come, and I mean this in the best possible sense. Matt left the conversation he was having and asked what I was needing help with. I explained the purpose for my visit and he extended his hand and said he could help and asked me to follow him to his desk. I should note that upon leaving I apologized to the gentleman that was sitting there who was engaged in conversation with Matt prior to my arrival. The gentleman waved it off and told me not to worry about it and said, ”Matt is the best there is and he will take care of you". Boy did he ever. I work for a company which boasts a 97% customer satisfaction with our service. I personally believe and live by the adage, “People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.” As soon as we sat down, Matt asked if he could go over a few things and ask a few questions. He first explained to me that he preeminently cared about building a relationship with me, not simply making a sale of a vehicle and that this principle is what he takes pride in. Now, I've worked in sales before, so I know that while it's one thing to tell people this, it's a whole other thing to live it out and put it into practice. Matt put this into practice and sold me on this, not because of how often he said it, but by every action he took. Matt asked a few questions that most ask about: type of vehicle, color preferences, etc. But Matt went beyond that and asked a question that I don't think any salesman has ever asked me. Mind you, I had been on the hunt for a car for about 2-3 weeks and visited at least 3 other reputable dealerships. Matt asked me, "What are 1-2 things you really like about your current car?" and "What are 1-2 things you don't really like about your current car?" Now, the questions on the surface don't seem to have much depth, but I was instantly impressed because he demonstrated by asking these questions that he didn't care just about the sale, but he cared about understanding my needs and wants, so as to find the perfect vehicle for me. That is what you call a proficient salesman. Matt took me out to look at the different models and trims. He was very informative and answered all of my questions. He took me out for a spin in a vehicle and even offered to let me take it by myself, but his company was more than enjoyable, so I insisted he come with me. When we settled on the trim and style, we went back to discuss numbers. He had Danny Spurgeon appraise my trade-in value while Matt looked for a vehicle here in town that would match my criteria. There were only two vehicles within 500 miles with my specifications. Matt brought out the numbers and we went over the initial offer, and I explained why I didn't think I could make it happen. I can't explain this, but those that have been through a car buying experience before just have that feeling for when and when not to give more information to salesman because they honestly are or are not giving it their best effort to help you. I just had that honest feeling, so I gave him my number that I would be comfortable with. After a few moments of him visiting with his manager he introduced me to Danny Spurgeon. Now, I had the same thing happen out at the Scholfield Hyundai East store. Out east, the guy basically told me, "I can't make that happen,” and never offered an alternative or even counter offer. I will mention I came up from my number by $1,000 and they never even bothered to reconsider. As a matter of fact, they never even called me back. Needless to say, after this encounter, it left a bad taste in my mouth and I can't say that I will recommend that team to anyone in the future. Danny was very different. Danny told me, "I can't make that number happen,” but he didn't just leave it there. He began to show me the invoice on the vehicle (usually you have to ask to see that), and explain how and why the price of the vehicle he was selling to me was priced at it's best. That's called transparency and is a true selling skill to utilize when selling a car to a consumer who is also being transparent. It goes both ways. He then went on to explain how he had priced my car's trade-in value which was very insightful and wasn't a bunch of smoke. Now, simply giving me an explanation of a "no" isn't going to make me go ahead and sign a deal, but Danny went beyond just that. Danny took the time as well as had the desire to understand the financial situation I was in, and how I wanted to improve that, and showed me how he could help make that happen. He even offered to adjust my trade-in to help. He was willing to work with me, where I was, to help me get to where I wanted to be. You can not ask for more than that. Now one of the two vehicles that they found was available, but was about 400-500 miles away in another state. Danny explained to me how he could secure the car for me, but that I would need to let him know by the next day in order for him to have it in town by the weekend. I thanked them for their time and told them I would be in touch with them after discussing the deal with my wife. After discussing it with her and praying about the decision, we decided to go ahead with what Danny and Matt were able to do for us. I called him in the afternoon the next day and Matt surprisingly informed me that Danny had somehow (without me asking for it) arranged for a transfer of the vehicle to their lot so it was ready when I got there. They introduced me to Chad Pipkin who was going to help me with the paper work and loan. Chad, Danny, and Matt were so patient with me and allowed me time to talk to my wife privately on the phone about the deal and even helped answer any questions I had. All three of these guys stayed about 2 hours past closing to help me get set up and even waited on my wife to come down to sign the paperwork. We never once got the feeling like there were trying to rush out of there or were upset about being there 2 hours past closing. I went into this kind of detail so that anyone who reads this can tell that this is in no way, shape, or form a fabrication. It was the best car buying experience ever. Big thanks to Matt, Danny, and Chad for all their hard work and help. They have earned my business and my highest recommendation. More
