Mr. Wagoner, We understand that a new vehicle is a big investment and that if concerns arise it can be frustrating. It is our intention to correct and resolve any issues that do not meet GM standards. Upon review, we see that this vehicle originated at Laura Buick/GMC in Collinsville, IL., and that it was taken to another GMC service department. Although we cannot see what issues were brought to the other service department's attention, we were made aware of your concerns from General Motors. GM contacted us after you called the customer center and were unhappy with the first dealership. GM told us that the other dealer concluded the vehicle was operating per design, but they wanted you to get a second opinion (they opened a case as well). GM contacted us by email asking us to help and give a second opinion. When you arrived, we were informed of 3 concerns. The first, was when driving at 40mph and letting off the accelerator, the car jerks. This concern was unable to be duplicated with you and our technician. The second concern stated was that a rattle could be heard on the passenger side of the interior when driving. This concern was unable to be duplicated by you and our technician. Your third concern about a pop noise when taking off from a stop was duplicated with our technician present. After the technician inspected the vehicle, test drove it, and was unable to determine the cause of the noise, he asked our shop foreman for assistance. Our foreman decided to drive two other 2014 Sierras and found that they also had the same noise when driving. In order to make the noise happen, the foreman stated that he had to press the accelerator a little harder than usual from a stop. If he would not press on the accelerator as hard, the noise would not be there. We apologize that we were not able to remedy this situation to your satisfaction. Your vehicle is currently operating per design and replacing any parts would not correct your noise concern. However, while your vehicle is still under warranty, if it does malfunction the repairs will be covered at no cost to you.

Your response is a joke! The content in which your "lead" mechanic wrote in the diagnosis is not only a joke...but a blatant LIE!!! Now then, the main issue as to why I brought it in..is it makes a popping noise when accelerating from a stop.Your mechanic states it takes excessive, beyond normal, acceleration to make the noise. It does NOT take excessive acceleration to make this happen as your lead mechanic states!!! I am extremely offended by this statement! And he states 2 other vehicles made the noise as well. How the hell do I know that...am I expected to take his word for it?? I wasn't there. I will be getting another opinion from another dealership and I will make sure the Service manager goes for not only a ride...but I will make sure he drives it with me. Then I will compare the both diagnosis' from you and the them. (Unfortunately, I didn't get the diagnosis in writing from the first dealership, but the vehicle was never accused of needing excessive acceleration to make the problem happen). I will be forwarding this information to GM. Now then, your GM rep should have went on a drive with me and he himself should have drove the vehicle. He had no desire to do any of that. The other issues were secondary and were not of main concern, I explained that!! Now then, sometimes the noise is worse than others. It's a very obvious noise...and it's not normal. I've owned many GM trucks in my lifetime. If this is normal on these vehicles then GM has design issues. I have been doing extensive research since I've been at your dealership. Because the problem I have is the fact that neither dealership including yours had no enthusiasm at all to find the problem. In my opinion you didn't even try! In fact, you (Scholfield) insulted my intelligence with content of your mechanics write up. I will say...I have learned a lot about how warranties work between GM and the dealerships .Both dealerships including yours that have looked at it have told that they can hear but don't know what it is. Being an Engineer in the aircraft industry, I find this answer hard to accept. Now then, after suspicion as to why you guys did not want to go the extra mile to find the problem...I finally got two different service managers to admit to me (one being from the dealership I bought it from) that most dealerships have no desire to spend any amount of time on a vehicle that might involve a GM manufacturers warranty. I was told by both service managers that dealerships get paid NO money by GM for time spent on diagnosis...and only get paid if they have something that blatantly has to be fixed or replaced...and even then...it's only a fraction of what the average person off the street has to pay. So, unless the issue sticks out like a sore thumb, or it happens to be a service bulletin or a recall then they do not spend any time looking for the problem. Personally, I am ready to cut my losses. I look at this way...I have 3 options...I can either keep spending time and relentlessly keep search for the issue...get an attorney to see what my rights are in getting GM to buy this vehicle back, sell it or trade it for different brand of vehicle. One reason I went with brand new...is for the warranty...but so far that's turned out to be a joke.
