I took my truck in for a warranty repair and an oil change. I had a check engine light on and Sean asked if I would like them to advise me on the issue. I said yes. He the. Messaged me a quote for the change. I had a check engine light on and Sean asked if I would like them to advise me on the issue. I said yes. He the. Messaged me a quote for the repair needed to correct the check engine light, which I declined to have repaired. He also notified me that my front brakes were “low” and needed replaced. I declined that as well and told him just do the warranty repair and the oil change. He told me it wouldn’t be ready until the following day. The next day I messaged Sean and asked when it should be ready and what the charge was. He told me later that day and it was $250 plus tax. I questioned what the charges were and he said $160 was diagnostics for the check engine light. I explained that he never mentioned a charge to advise me and I would not have approved it if he had. He tried to get me to “split it with me”. I told him no, I was never told of the charge. He told me it was on the paperwork that I signed when I dropped it off. I explained that the paper I signed simply said estimate for oil change and check engine light. I assumed the charge listed was an estimate for repair, since he never mentioned a charge to diagnose it. He did take the diagnostic charge off and then texted me an hour later that it was ready. Odd since I was told it wouldn’t be ready until 4pm and it was only 1030 am. I be told him I wouldn’t be there until 4-5pm. I picked up my vehicle and paid for the oil change. This was on Friday. On Monday, I took my vehicle to my mechanic who works on all of my service trucks. I had him look at it and was told that none of my brakes are in need of replacement. In fact, my front brakes were between 40-50%. I do not appreciate being told something is in need of repair when it was not. More
