Not friendly or responsive to my problem. Car would not start (battery dead from longish sitting idle). Called service dept. they said that if I got it there, they would likely be able to look at it in 2 days, despite the fact that I paid for Subaru Full extra service (or whatever it's called). Come on, 2 days to do a 2 minute battery check and put it on a charger?? They seemed bothered that I bought the car in San Rafael, not from them. Anyhow, somebody (bodies) there has an extreme attitude problem. Dealt with the problem without troubling the service folks. More

My 2019 Crosstrek was leaking oil from one of the cam follower seals and had an issue with the driver's side window control. I was told by an independent repair shop that the cost to fix the leak would b follower seals and had an issue with the driver's side window control. I was told by an independent repair shop that the cost to fix the leak would be around $5000 as the engine would need to be removed and replaced. Coincidentaly, I was contacted by Hansel about buying a new Crosstrek. I said I would not be interested as my Crosstrek was showing major issues at 75,000 miles. After checking my warranty information, I was told that my repair was covered under the 'gold warranty' I purchased at the time of sale. I was told that the repair would be done free of charge along with the window control and some front bushings that needed to be replaced. I also had the front brakes replaced as they were due. All in all I had a very positive experience dealing with the service department at Hansel Subaru. I would encourage any prospective new car buyers to go for the gold warranty coverage as it saved me from having to pay $5000+ out of pocket. More

Very poor communication to update work status. I was left wondering if my car was ready to pick up or I had to find a ride home because they didn't arrange a Lyft. No text messages with updates. I had to call the sales dept. to pass a message to the service dept. because no one would answer the phone there. The rep who received my car was very grumpy because I entered the dealership through the wrong driveway, but there are not signs indicating "the right way". He explained twice how to do it (if there is a next time), because apparently he thought I was very "dense" to get the message the first time. I requested an estimate to replace the tires and the rear brakes. The rep who returned my car didn't know anything about the work that was done, and no estimate was prepared. No apologies either. To finish my experience, I found my car with the mat dirty and loose; I had to shake it and fix it in the dark and under the rain. On the bright side, the mechanic did a good job repairing the oil leak. Through the whole experience I felt like a second class customer. More
