So I’m unsure if the situation I’m in is because I’m a woman or if Toyota of Fairfield is truly this terrible to do business with. Purchased a vehicle over a month ago, put a reservation fee down to “hold woman or if Toyota of Fairfield is truly this terrible to do business with. Purchased a vehicle over a month ago, put a reservation fee down to “hold” the vehicle despite being rushed back from our reservation because the manager wanted it off the lot “that night” (mind you we had been waiting well over a month for the car to even get there). Decided not to use the reservation fee is a down payment, asked for the money back. Because I put it on a debit card, they told me they couldn’t do it after swiping it multiple times. Was told they would cut a check and send it to us. Three weeks goes by, no check so we called the check-in they say oh yeah we’ll call you back. Four days goes by no phone call, so I call again to check in was told I would get a call back in that the reason I didn’t go back to my debit card is because there machine has been broken for a couple of days but it been working for a while now. So finally two days later I get a callback, and they say they’re putting it back on my debit card could take 5 to 6 days before I see the money. This was two weeks ago, call back again last week to figure out what the holdup is. Told that I will get a call back because this makes no sense. Three days goes by, no call so I called back myself. Talk to Diego who’s apparently “in charge” and he tells me well finance made a note it was returned I tell him no it definitely was not, there is no money in my account. He tells me “well it’s Friday so nothing I can do, call back Monday if it’s still not there we’ll try again”. Here we are Tuesday over a month later, and here I am still without my reservation fee. And after todays call I’m still getting thrown in circles, it’s ok though they took my number down for the 6th time for a “call back” that I’m sure yet again will never come. This whole situation has been completely sketchy and frustrating. More
Building: Showroom floor was cold. Showroom floor is huge and clean. Sales Staff: Came in twice and was never greeted by “Welcome to …..”. Instead I was asked if I was meeting a particular salesperson—whic and clean. Sales Staff: Came in twice and was never greeted by “Welcome to …..”. Instead I was asked if I was meeting a particular salesperson—which I did. Salesperson: I was originally contacted by Will via text message. Will does not do what he says he would —text me back with the car information. I am glad I did not meet him or end up with him. The salesperson that assisted me was Carl. Carl was not personable but he was approachable. Carl’s energy and enthusiasm was a bit lacking—if you like that type of energy/enthusiasm. No small talk—which I don’t care for anyways. I can tell Carl is new at the dealership cause I heard the senior (much older) salesman told him to “keep it simple,” before he spoke with me. With todays prices, I told Carl that I would pay MSRP and the necessary fees, etc. no dealer add-ons. I was ready to pay the amount without the door guards (which were not installed yet). In the end, we were not able to make a deal cause Carl’s boss would not take out the Door guard (which I told Carl that I did not want and/or need). I end up walking out. Not Carl’s fault. I believe that them knowing in advance that I would be paying cash and/or cashiers check (they cannot make extra $$ on the financing on me since I had my own $), and the fact that it was the only hybrid left in their inventory (Jan 2022), and the current shortage and high demand, they said No Deal. On my way out the door, Carl asked if he could call me if he was able to take out the door guard, and I said Yes. Been an hour since I left the dealership, and no phone calls. Would I recommend them again? Not for first-time car buyers. Cause they quoted me at the dealership $37,000 for a car with $24,991 MSRP. That tells me that they are trying to take advantage of new car buyers and the current shortage. More
