Mechanic failed to fix the problem. He allegedly dropped the transmission pan and failed to see the issue - antifreeze in the transmission and a lot of metal shavings. So, it's decided to change the torque converter. I go pickup my 4Runner, get to the Walgreens down the street...same shuddering. Get home and see my USAF hitchcover is broken! Next day, I take it to a transmission shop. That manager immediately told me that the torque converter is no longer in new condition being I drove more than 20 miles...shavings are now in the new converter. So, basically I'm out $3450 because a Toyota mechanic did not take the time to test drive my vehicle to check his work. Total FAIL. Service Manager, Philip, told me that I cannot get any kind of refund because they can't use the broken converter. And that he never heard of a radiator leaking into the transmission. Well, you just did!! And, I have purchased 2 Toyota vehicles from Hampton...NEVER again. Disgruntled Disabled Veteran More
I brought in my Tacoma in for a flashing A/C light, they told me it was a relay and that if the relay went out again they would have to change A/C for $4,500. I looked at other vehicles to purchase and they told me it was a relay and that if the relay went out again they would have to change A/C for $4,500. I looked at other vehicles to purchase and they told me they would only give me $7,000 for a trade in unless I replace the whole A/C unit. Then I find out that they replaced the A/C relay switches with old parts so it is guaranteed to go out and make me think the whole unit is broken. Call in to question this and they will not return my call! This is so messed up!!! More
I wrote a review to discuss a horrible customer service experience. John reached out to offer his contact information to resolve the matter. I emailed John and he never responded. 2 months has passed and t experience. John reached out to offer his contact information to resolve the matter. Genuinely the worst customer service experience I've ever had. I had a factory recall on my airbags. I had to leave my truck there while I went to work. Whenever I picked it up, there were cracks on my windshield. I had a preexisting crack that was small enough that I still passed inspection. When I picked my truck up, this crack spread across the entire windshield. There were new cracks above my airbag compartment on my dash too. When I called in to discuss this, Phillip didn't want to help me from the beginning. He was rude, didn't hear me out about my experience and even hung up me. I called back to further the discussion and see if there was a way we could work this out. He continued to be rude and acted as if I was not worth his time and even belittled me because this was my first time using hamptons service department. Phillip said things to try to secure deniability on his end: "weather can cause cracks to spread"... ok, then where did these new cracks come from? "You can't prove that we caused these damages" so cracks appearing on my windshield after you worked on it isn't proof?... and lastly, my favorite "the airbags are nowhere near your windshield"... my airbags that are in my dashboard, physically touching my windshield are "nowhere near" eachother according to Phillip.. He finally asked what I thought would be a good resolution and then shut me down because they don't do glass work after he already said they worked closely with a glass company. If I would've known this is the service level to be expected from Hampton Toyota, I'd have never purchased my wife's Avalon from them. You'd be better off buying a vehicle from Craigslist. At least they wouldn't belittle you over your business history eith them. More

Hampton Toyota has an awesome sales department. The service department on the other hand is a joke. Brought in our 2020 Highlander for having shakes when the brakes were applied. They told us that The service department on the other hand is a joke. Brought in our 2020 Highlander for having shakes when the brakes were applied. They told us that they would shave the rotors. Once we got the vehicle out of the shop, it still had the same shake. Brought it back in again took the shop foreman for a ride he acknowledged the shakes and a problem with the rotors. But now want to charge $1000 to replace the rotors. Got tired of being jerked around by this shop, so I brought it to another shop and was shown by the mechanics that the rotors were never shaved. Now there are no shakes when the brakes are applied and was only charged $50. It’s a shame that the mom and Pop shops are so much better than a certified dealership service department. More
