My search for a new car brought me to Hamilton VW thanks to their online pricing and online price quote that was emailed to me. The price was very competitive, however, the dealership would only give me an to their online pricing and online price quote that was emailed to me. The price was very competitive, however, the dealership would only give me an online quote on one vehicle and then required I meet in person to get quotes on other vehicles. (The vehicle for which I received a quote was already sold when I arrived) The biggest drawback was that the sales representative was reluctant to give me a concrete price on the vehicles I was interested and waited to the very end to specify that incentives, such as 0.0% interest (which was advertised online), was not offered with the price they were finally quoting. I was told I could either have the financing deal or the lower price, which I would have appreciated knowing at the beginning. I would have been more likely to purchase from Hamilton VW had the sales team just given me the price quotes in advance so I could have made a straight forward honest comparison. In the end, I was told that I was negotiating too hard (only because another VW dealer in the area had offered a lower price on an identical car). Before I left, the sales manager offered to match, or even beat the other dealer's price by $100, but by that point I was happy to pay a small amount more and reward a dealership where I experienced friendly service and straightforward pricing from the very beginning. Customer service was great, I never felt pushed, rushed, or unwanted. Being a younger buyer, making a (hard earned) cash purchase, sometimes dealers don't take you seriously, I did not feel that way here. P or unwanted. Pete answered all my questions happily and didn't get offended or try to play any games if I showed concern for a particular issue. There is a trust factor that has to be built when making a large investment in a used car, even when you look it over from head to toe, and Pete definitely earned that with me. The dealership's pricing was very competitive and they weren't unrealistic from the start like others are. They didn't overvalue the car, and it was a clear choice in the end after shopping around all of new jersey, from Butler, to Egg Harbor, negotiating with dealers of all sizes who had no clue what their cars were actually worth. They were willing to go above and beyond to make sure there were no loose ends, helping me get in contact with an insurance agent of my choosing (even when the insurance companies website couldnt help), letting me give it one final test run to make sure we were absolutely sure, and even topping it off with gas and detailing it before we left. I also didn't have to play phone tag with the dealer or get transfered around in circles. the little things matter. it was pure, solid, classy service, from beginning to end. In my travels to purchase this car, I encountered every kind of dealer, and experienced all the pitfalls you could imagine, dealt with every kind of salesman. Most play some variation of "good cop, bad cop" where the original salesman shows you the car, is super polite, and yeses you to death, then another comes in when it's time to negotiate terms and pricing, who just happens to be an absolute brass pit bull. Pete never came off as aggressive to me, or fake, or manipulative. his genuineness and personableness sold me, and we dealt solely with him. no bad cop. In the end it was a grade A experience on all fronts and I would do it again in a heartbeat. More
Im giving EVERYTHING to do with Ron 5 stars. What a wonderful employee. However, we had to leave w/o a purchase. There is something fishy going on with prices. I came to see a 10 mazda3 that was $13,6 online. when i got there, there was really no budging on the price because the sticker said 16,999 (or possibly 15,999. i dont remember. either price is on the outrageous side) and the internet price is that reduced for a "quick sale". The site I found the car on has had it listed for almost 3 months w/ the following prices drops: Jun 29 $15815, Aug 24 $14151, & today $13689. makes it seem like theyre having trouble getting rid of the car and you can get a deal & you can start negotiating at 13,6. there are plenty of other 3's out there for 12000-13000. i even had printed alot of them (to no avail). If the car was in great condition at $13something that might be different but it seemed a bit trashed inside (cigarette damage, water/liquid marks, questionable window operation...) and just plain sad since the 3 is a beautiful car. We began discussing the 10 forte but could not come to an agreeable price. Bottom line is like anywhere else you should do your research before you walk in the door. no worse feeling than realizing you paid too much. More
