Our founder Lee Hamer started this company on April 19, 1939 as an automobile general service and repair station on the corner of Sepulveda and San Fernando Mission Boulevards in Mission Hills. With your help and continued patronage Hamer Toyota has continued to grow into the state of the art Automotive Dealership we know today!
Mr. Hamer has won many awards for his charitable contributions to the community as well as for his impeccable reputation for honesty, integrity, and fairness. Lee was very active in the San Fernando Valley including the development of youth, sports and welfare projects that have greatly benefited our community. He was an active community leader in the Mission Hills Chamber of Commerce, served two terms as President of Los Angeles Fire Commission in the 60s and was a founding member of Holy Cross Medical Center Century Club. Lee was the recipient of the Fernando Award in 1989. The most prestigious award that can be earned, for philanthropic and charitable works.
Over the years he has been an automotive dealer for Hudson, Studebaker, Mercedes, Citroen, Volvo, MG, Triumph, Fiat, Renault, Borgward and Datsun. In July of 1965 we became an Exclusively Toyota Dealership. Mr. Hamer sold an average of about 10 cars a month back then. Today the Dealership average is closer to 500 cars a month and we are among the top 3% of Toyota Dealers in the nation.
Lee Hamer passed away November 15, 1995.

I went into Hamer Toyota over the summer because my truck had been making a rattling noise for way too long. Carlos greeted me right away. I let him know all that I knew about cars, which is nothing except h had been making a rattling noise for way too long. Carlos greeted me right away. I let him know all that I knew about cars, which is nothing except how to drive them. He laughed and assured me he would find out in no time and asked if I would like to sit in the waiting area. In no time at all he told me the rattling was from my timing chain and that the timing chain guides were failing. The price was excellent and my car doesn't make noises it's not suppose to anymore. I recommended him to a couple of friends and they found the same great experience. More

I went on to the Hamer website, saw they had an Internet special on the Prius 3, so I called and scheduled an appointment with Steve to come in and look at the Prius. When I came in Marylou took me to look special on the Prius 3, so I called and scheduled an appointment with Steve to come in and look at the Prius. When I came in Marylou took me to look at the Prius, the test drive was pleasant enough, but after that everything else was unpleasant. We went in to discuss price, I showed them the Internet special that I had printed out, and they said they didn't have a car that matched the exact Prius I wanted, which was a base Prius 3. They told me they had a Prius 3 with the solar panel and Performance Package, but that also had a bumper guard, paint guard, and some other BS sounding stuff. I told them I just wanted the base like the special had listed, and that did not please them, they immediately got defensive saying that Prius was the only one they had, and that if I didn't like it, I should take my buisness else where, so now, I'm going to do exactly that. More
