I set up a 10 o’clock appointment to get service work done for an airbag recall. A lot of thought and planning goes into setting up a an appointment when you have children and work. I scheduled it on a day I was off. I scheduled it during a time that was after my daughter went to school but before my son napped. The recall notice said it would take one hour and that rental cars are available. When I got to Charles Barker Toyota and spoke with service advisor Lydia Green, I asked her if it would truly take one hour. Her response was “it won’t be done until two o’clock.” I then asked her if it was true that rental cars were available. I needed to get my car seat out for my son before they took the car away to be worked on. She asked if I had set up the appointment online to which I told her “no I did it via text messaging which was really convenient.“ her response was “you need to set that up ahead of time. I can call over to enterprise but I doubt it“ There was no “I’m sorry.I wish they would’ve told you. I’ll do what I can to get you in a rental.” I told her I would not be able to leave the vehicle and her response was “ok.” She never offered to reschedule. Never apologized for the inconvenience. As I walked away, I went back to her and said “You know, you could’ve offered to reschedule.” Her response again with an annoyed look on her face was “Ok.” This lady had ZERO customer service skills or sympathy as I stand there with my two year old son, juice and goldfish in hand ready to wait two hours tops. Charles Barker Toyota, as conveniently closer that you are, I will make the drive to Priority Toyota where they treat people with respect. Received call to schedule appt and told could set for 6 pm. Days later received text saying appt time past latest time allowed-5 pm. Responded with question and got no response. Called service and told n pm. Days later received text saying appt time past latest time allowed-5 pm. Responded with question and got no response. Set an appointment on Friday for a NEW tire I take time off work on the following Tuesday to get a new tire only to be told they had to order it when I went in for my appointment! STRAIGHT FORWARD COMPETENT HONEST SERVICE AT A FAIR PRICE My wife had an estimate to fix her relatively new Infinityat the Infinity dealership that required new parts regarding a stopped drain on the sun roo My wife had an estimate to fix her relatively new Infinityat the Infinity dealership that required new parts regarding a stopped drain on the sun roof for almost $900.00 that even though she may have been mistaken for just an unknowable woman regarding automobiles , she certainly is not and she sought an opinion from Darrick at the service department at Charles Barker where the car was originally purchased before the dealership changed hands but where we service our Toyota .He consulted with the mechanic Wendall who related they thought it could easily be fixed as opposed to putting in a new drain from the Sun Roof . In a short time it was and at about a $500.00 difference . When it comes to the Charles Barker Toyota dealership regardless of their quoted price for various repairs quoted price we trust what they say . They deal straight and do good work . . More

I work in Portsmouth this so unfair to the consumer. i was unable to get an oil change. This should be advised on the website. More

Not trustworthy! This may or may not be the reasoning for the way this played out but either way, I'm a woman!!! A couple of months ago my Toyota 4 runner just died o This may or may not be the reasoning for the way this played out but either way, I'm a woman!!! A couple of months ago my Toyota 4 runner just died on the side of the road. I had it towed to Charles Barker Toyota where they disagnosed the problem as the alternator and the battery. The charges were a little short of $1000.00 which I paid and left thinking all was well. A couple weeks go by and my truck won't start, completly dead. I lifted the hood to discover that the battery cables on the new battery had never been tightened down and the bracket that holds the battery in place had not been tightened and was now missing. When I went in to tell the dealer there was never an apology offered or any compensation. Fast forward a few more weeks and I need a state inspection and I notice when I brake it pulls to the right. I show for my appointment and am told for it to be looked at it will cost me $125.00. They take it back to have a look and come to me with what my problems are and the cost will be $3683.17 for brake calipers and a long list of things they feel I should do. They rejected it for state inspection also. I demanded my truck be brought around no work done and a made a promise to never return and that includes to purchase another truck which I am in the market for at this time. Buyer beware, its about as dishonest as I've ever been treated. I did get it repaired within 3 hours and state inspected for $349.19 and a local garage! More

Always the correct fix at a reasonable price. I bought my 2001 Toyota Sienna LE at Charles Barker and have had it serviced there consistently. My service advisor is Darrick Williams who I’ve dealt I bought my 2001 Toyota Sienna LE at Charles Barker and have had it serviced there consistently. My service advisor is Darrick Williams who I’ve dealt with for years is outstanding. He has always provided the correct appropriate repair and service to my car and never tries to up sell me on thing I didn’t need. In the parts department I worked with Vicky on numerous occasions and she too has always provided me with the right parts and at appropriate costs. The Service Manage Fred Phillips whom I worked with for years also he provided service to my mom’s Toyota Camry and she would have no other than him do work for her. He now the service manager and is still providing excellent service to our cars, this team is wonderful to work with and a pleasure to see each time I’m there for car service. They all provide excellent service at reasonable costs to my family sense we bought our 2001. Sienna. More
