Bought a 2025 CX90 over the phone, like I always do. I have never had a problem doing this until I bought a Mazda. They are about 10 years behind Toyota and Honda on features. I let my workers look at this car and all of them said they would rather keep their 2012 and 2016 cars over this one. It is not intuitive or up with the generation. Don't put screens in a car if you can't touch them. That is the easiest way to control everything. Your center console dial is the worst design and will cause people to crash trying to figure out how to use it. Also who doesn't put sirius xm as a standard in vehicles? To someone who has been driving and buying cars for over 20 years, this car is the worst I have ever owned. After an hour in this car your butt and legs go numb, don't bother trying to work the radio or anything else with a dial. Tried to get back my 2022 honda pilot instead of this car because my pilot has better features and its older. By the way it took me e tries to get my car started this morning and once it started my safety features didn't work. I called the dealership and they said that was normal. In no world is that normal. As a whole, this location was unprofessional, pressure you for after market/service packages, and very slow compared to other dealerships in getting the paperwork completed. So one thing we are asked at my work when we are thinking about altering a procedure or policy is, “is it duplicatable? If Rob is off or retires he cannot be replaced. When I contacted Rob I had already spent 10+ hrs at other dealerships and I let him know that before coming out. He told me a car that was over what I wanted to spend could match my budget and sent me a personal video of the car with emphasis on premium plus model of the car. I was ready for third trip to a dealership just to get there and have what we said over the phone not be the same in person. Rob took me immediately. I had no idea I had somehow ended up messaging the best salesman In Hampton roads. I had little expectation of leaving with a car due to the other experiences. We went on a test drive and it was like Rob built the car. He showed me and told me every lever, every dial, every setting, every option and feature the car had. The back passenger seatbelt alarm went off driving and instead of dismissing it and trying to sell the car he was adamant on finding out why it was alarming like he wouldn’t sell the car with an issue. (Heavy bag I placed in the back) He kept asking me what I thought on the test drive. I didn’t want to say my thoughts because I felt like this is super nice and as a carsales place I’ll just get cost jacked up and not make deal I was promised. NEVER would’ve happened. When we got back I was given the exact offer mentioned over the phone and trade in value 2k higher than other dealerships. I was honestly waiting for the catch the entire time and antsy to get the keys and drive home because it felt like such a steal like there’s no way they’re letting me walk out of here paying this for that car. I check out Robs reviews and he is out here texting customers answers to their questions 1+ after buying their car from him and he’s jumping their batteries. I cannot believe such a good, honest man works in car sales. There’s not a question I could’ve thought of that Rob did not already explain to me about service maintenance, how the car works, etc. I live in Western Branch and I strongly feel the need to drive 30 minutes for an oil change every time due to Rob’s diligence and honesty throughout the entire process. Armed with an arsenal of online research, I had my sights set on three options. When I reached out to Hall Mazda for a test drive, things got interesting real fast. Robert not only scheduled an appointment in a flash but also sent me a personalized video tour of the cars, the dealership, and even directions. Talk about a red carpet welcome! Fast forward to the test drive – Robert was like my trusty co-pilot, explaining all the car's bells and whistles, features, and functionality. Post-drive, he spent two hours decoding my car research, answering all of my questions, and guiding me through the automotive maze. No pushy sales tactics here, folks. I left that day to check out other cars on my list. Now, let me tell you, my visits to other dealerships were like stepping into a library during a quiet hour – stiff, formal, and about as personal as a voicemail recording. The value you get from a Mazda can't be understated. What comes standard would be hundreds or thousands more to add on to another vehicle. After that, I was confident in my decision to buy a CX-5. Contacted Robert again, received an immediate response. Stopped by the dealership and unfortunately the color/trim that I wanted wasn't in stock. He checked locations in other states and tried to trade for the ONE that was in stock elsewhere. When that didn't work, we ordered one. He let me know it would take a few months. Come December, and I couldn't help but notice the dealership's holiday deals and incentives. I was willing to switch colors, so I shot Robert another message. He was quicker than Santa on Christmas Eve. With more inventory in the area, he was able to locate the one I wanted that was scheduled to arrive in NC. A few days later i'm back at the dealership for the actual purchase. Now, I hadn't bought a brand-new car in ages, and I was super nervous. But thanks to Robert and the Hall Mazda crew, this wasn't a horror story waiting to unfold. The whole process was easy and transparent. I was able to take advantage of incentives and was felt ZERO pressure to buy anything extra. I really could not have asked for a better experience. The morning after my purchase, I noticed what looked like some polish left on the hood. I texted Robert, and instead of just advice, he rolled out the red carpet (again). He invited me back to the dealership (where I'd left something in my old car) and gifted me a set of fancy cleaning goodies. Now, that's service! Oh, and did I mention how clean and friendly the dealership was? Every single staff member I encountered was so genuine and warm. They take the time to chat; nothing is rushed (or drawn out!). If you're on the hunt for a new set of wheels and a dealership experience that feels more like hanging out with friends, I wholeheartedly recommend Hall Mazda and Robert Pena.
