not a quick oil change I came into this Honda dealer for an oil change I scheduled online and light bulb change inside my car. I had an appointment set for 8:30 am and said I came into this Honda dealer for an oil change I scheduled online and light bulb change inside my car. I had an appointment set for 8:30 am and said I would wait for my vehicle. I asked the service attendant how long this should take and he said no more than an hour to an hour and a half at the LATEST. After about two hours, I went to ask how much longer they believed my car would take as it had already been well over the anticipated time frame and I needed to be getting to work. Although I did think it was really odd that I had scheduled an appointment, but had seen several other people leave the waiting room that had come in after me, I didn't act angry or rude. I just asked an attendant walking by for an update. The very attendant that signed me in and had given me the time frame rudely told me that I wasn't the only person they were accommodating and he had told me it would be an hour and a half to two hours. I promptly reminded him that he had actually said no more than an hour and a half , and I only had that expectation of time because he provided it to me. It was at this point that a sales person came to ask me did I want to look at new cars while I waited. I agreed because I'd already been there so long, Why not? Before leaving with the sales person, I asked the attendant could he ask service to forget about my bulb if that was going to take longer. He replied (without checking) that they already had begun on my car so it would be better to keep the ticket as it was. After an additional forty-five minutes passed with NO UPDATE, I finally asked the sales person could he check on my car. He came back to tell me my car had another 35-40 minutes wait so I had time to go view more cars with him. It was at that point I express the fact that I was no longer in the mood to discuss new cars as I was extremely dissatisfied with the fact that I had now been there for about 3 hours. He quickly went over to service and apologetically came back agreeing to give me the oil change at no charge. The sales man was also accompanied by the original attendant who's previously bothered demeanor had changed completely. The original attendant returned with an now truthful update that service had not even BEGUN my oil change/ bulb change, but now would be working on my car. Needless to say I left Hall Honda 4 hours later with the same blown out bulb with which I'd arrived. The moral of the story is appointments mean nothing and I will most certainly never be returning for any service at the Hall Honda of Virginia Beach. More
Scary Tales of what will happen without expensive parts I have been getting my Odyssey serviced at this dealership for about 4 or 5 years. I took it in last week for a diagnosis on a check engine light. T I have been getting my Odyssey serviced at this dealership for about 4 or 5 years. I took it in last week for a diagnosis on a check engine light. The wait was way too long, as usual, but when they came to get me, they told me it needed a new catalytic converter, a part that costs almost $1000. Because I'm strapped for cash, I asked what the implications were of driving with the bad part, and the employee told me that if the part failed, the car would be dead on the side of the road, and worse, that the metal honeycomb inside it could break apart and blow through the engine, destroying it. I told them I'd bring it back the following week for the replacement. In the meantime, the check engine light went out on its own. I started asking around and doing some research and discovered that if my converter were truly bad like they said, my car would be having noticeable performance issues, noise, and possibly even smell. It purrs like a kitten and drives as smooth as ever. Another repair place and my research backed up the fact that even if it was bad, I could continue to drive it until I was able to get it fixed / replaced, and that only in extreme circumstances would it cause the car to stop running. And, if the honeycomb material blew, it would exit through the exhaust system (backwards), NOT into the engine. Now I feel like I have been scammed -- luckily this time I didn't get the repair -- but with a vehicle almost 9 years old, I'm afraid I've been scammed on other expensive part replacements, as well. After all, how would I know any better, as a single mom and not an auto-savvy person. I think they know my profile type and will tell me whatever it takes to make me feel like I have to pay out the nose to keep my kids safe in the car. Next time my check engine light comes on, I'll be taking it for a free diagnostic at Auto Zone. I no longer trust Hall Honda. More

I've never had an issue with service at this dealership in the past 3 years. So when I bought my second car here, I expected more of the same. My sales person told me when I bought the car that they'd talk in the past 3 years. So when I bought my second car here, I expected more of the same. My sales person told me when I bought the car that they'd talk to the service department and have them call me the next Monday to set up the apointment to apply my protection package. He told me I could drop it off at 7:30 and get a rental for the day. Monday came and went and I didn't receive a call. I called my sale person Tuesday and he said he'd talk to them again and make sure they contacted me. Laurie from the service department called that afternoon and said she thought she had already contacted me. I set up an appointment for Thursday. She told me to come by at 9. I mentioned that I was told I could drop it off at 7:30 and get a rental. She said my sales person was wrong and I couldn't get a rental at 7:30. She told me to just come Wednesday night to drop it off and get a rental then. I was told to come at 5:30 and ask for her by name. I showed up just before 5:30 Wednesday night and asked for Laurie. The person there said Laurie had left for the day but she could get me checked in. I gave her all the information she needed and then she told me that I was okay to leave. I told her I was supposed to be getting a rental. She seemed pretty surprised and said she'd go check to see what she could do. She ended up coming back and telling me I could sit in the waiting area and my rental would be there in about 15 minutes. She did a great job improvising and making up for the problems. But unfortunately, I ended up waiting about 45 minutes for my rental to arrive. The next day when my car was ready, Laurie was the one to call and tell me. I was kind of surprised whe she didn't even apologize for the problems. More
I have had serveral experiences with Hall Honda. Each visit, we are greeted in a courteous, professional manner without the feeling of the salesperson being to "pushy." We appreciate this and feel comfo visit, we are greeted in a courteous, professional manner without the feeling of the salesperson being to "pushy." We appreciate this and feel comfortable visiting Hall Honda. While visiting Apirl 5, 2011 for routine maintenance; oil change, alignment and tire rotation I was unpleasantly surprised of the cost of a basic synthetic oil change of $38.95. The average oil change not only city but state wide is roughly $26.00. Further disapppointing is the fact that you no longer give a discount to Seniors, AAA or military. The purpose of this email is to THANK a Hall Honda employee. This individual was thorough, yet to the point explaining maintenance taking place, queried the maintenance history ensuring if any upcoming maintenance could be done same day, informed me halfway through of findings and estimated the time until completion, all with a smile and a geniune appreciation for my business. It is very common to make a phone call inquiring why a customer's experience was negative. In this case I would highly encourage the General/Corporate Manager to personally phone this individual and commend him on a JOB WELL DONE! --Jay, services department, who took the 9:45am appt for the 09 Honda Accord EX/V6.
