Thank you for reaching out to us at Gustman Honda. After talking with the staff involved, my understanding is that you agreed to purchase a Honda Pilot and solidified that deal with a $3000 down payment. As the store closes at 5:30 on Tuesday(which your brother n law was made aware of before you even came in), you agreed to come pick up your new Pilot up on that following Thursday. That Thursday, only hours before your scheduled delivery time, you contacted us to let us know you purchased somewhere else. We were all caught off guard with this as we had begun prep the paperwork(titling, finance, etc) along with prepare the vehicle for your delivery time. Needless to say, we decided to refund you the $3000 down payment at that time per your request as your satisfaction is our priority. We welcome a phone call at 920-733-6693 to further discuss your decision to back out of the agreement to purchase the Pilot. We appreciate the feedback and the opportunity to earn your business.

First of all we chose to put that amount down but there was no contracts stating that’s what you required us to do so. And no contracts saying we must buy the car or we would lose the deposit or have an amount deducted for cleaning fees. If that is how you operate, then put it in writing for us to read and sign and include that we would lose any additional fees associated with cleaning the brand new car. Secondly, whether you are caught off guard with our decision, your manager should be more professional in how you handle our call and not verbally attack us over the phone. We have the right to go to another dealer if we change our mind. Like I said, they went above and beyond for us after hours. That’s how they do business. And because we did not sign any contracts with your dealer—after being there for 2 hours, we have the right to a full refund.
