How this dealership works that’s surprising. Felt like being cheated. No gas was filled n no tire pressure was checked. Very poor response with customers. Detailed experience: We visited ‘Gurnee Hyundai - Cheaters’ last Thursday 2/21/2019 because we were interested in buying used Hyundai Azera. Dealership disclosed price of $6395.00 on internet and I was expecting a little bit of negotiation to finalize deal. My wife and I had a test drive first. Then we sit for final price and sales associate Mr. Holter didn’t quote a price for couple hours inspite we kept asking him to get a final price. He offered a price after getting a paper signed which was not at all required. Which dealership asks you to sign off paper to offer you a price? It is customer’s right to know price without any hassle. They came to know that I was potential buyer and visited with payment to buy that car. So they offered me $9002.00 price. They increased almost 30% price right away. When we asked why there is a difference on internet price and your quoted price then sales associate explained that it is additional dealer refurbishment cost which is mentioned at the bottom of the page on internet. So we said we didn’t read any such thing. Then he explained us b....t that you will have to check on desktop computer and not on the phone then only you will see it. Finally we found price description but it didn’t say anything about refurbishment cost so we approached him again and asked for explanation. He changed his statement and said oh that is probably dealer accessories cost which dealer has installed. But when we checked in car, there were no accessories fitted by dealership. So we asked him again that which floor mat and other accessories they will provide with car. He bluntly answered that they don’t provide any accessories. All charges are decided by management and it is a management policy. Finally we tried to sit down and asked for better price. This was shocking again that he asked for debit card to offer us negotiated price and his manager kept our debit card under his custody until we paid and everything was done. We got our debit card after following up with them after we made a deal and wrote a check. Story doesn’t end here. We negotiated and paid more than what was there on internet because we were in rush buying the car. We kept asking them when everything will be ready and we can leave with car? They kept giving b....t stories and wasted our lot of time at dealership for no reason. Finance manager Mr. Mike was one of the most rude employee we have ever seen in an auto industry. We were sent to finance manager to sign off papers and we already asked for joint titles and he prepared single owner title papers. When we asked he said he wasn’t informed and he made us to fill out the forms and he didn’t do his duty. Sales associates promised us to show license number before they get it but finance manager didn’t even ask us and said it is what it is. There is no choice. This was really rude and can’t be expected from a auto dealer employee. They do not have any coordination between departments or between employees. Finally we got delivery of the car and we requested to fill the tire air pressure and little bit of gas since tank was completely empty. But they didn’t even care to check tire compression and they didn’t fill up any gas. But we were so frustrated with our worst experience ever that we didn’t chose to go back in and asked to fill up the gas since they already wasted lot of time. After a mile or so there was no gas and we had to face a hardship again but somehow we managed. After getting home, we called finance manager to send me a form which was required by my insurance company and he said so rudely that he will send an email later since he has other customers. He didn’t send anything so we called him next day. He said he can’t email because his scanner broke so we had to arrange a fax number to get that document. It is completely negligent from dealership that they don’t have a provision for scanner while they run a dealership. I had a horrible experience with this dealership. I do not recommend anyone to buy from this dealership. If I describe them in a word then Gurnee Hyundai is a “CHEATER”. They cheat with innocent customers. There is no such thing as customer service or customer care department. HORRIBLE experience ever. More
Highway robbery Service wanted to charge my wife $140 to change the engine and cabin air filter‘s. I was able to buy Hyundai air filters on Amazon for $22 and it took a grand total of about six minutes for me to change them. It was my first time. Other dealerships I’ve been to Will not charge labor because they have to pull the old filters out to check them to let you know they need to be replaced. Thus, if they are putting them back, new or old, the labor is already done. I don’t mind paying the dealer mark-up for parts and I wouldn’t of even minded a nominal fee for the convenience of having it done when my wife was in for the service....but a fee of $140 (roughly 7 times the material cost) is outrageous. What was worse was the attitude of the service manager and the general manager of the dealership. They both said they were charging what they could get and other people were going to pay the bill so they didn’t care. If I didn’t want to pay it, so what, was their attitude. They lost a customer and my recommendation. More
Terrible dealership I arranged to see a “new” 18 Elantra as described on the dealership website w/ 8 miles with AJ Cole over email. After driving over an hour to get to I arranged to see a “new” 18 Elantra as described on the dealership website w/ 8 miles with AJ Cole over email. After driving over an hour to get to the dealership, we waited an hour to be told by staff that they couldn’t locate the vehicle. A sales manager then sat down and informed us that the vehicle “wasn’t new” and was a used loaner / demo car with 4,000 plus miles. In addition, the sales manager said that the vehicle was currently being loaned out and wasn’t available. I had set the appointment up with AJ Cole at least 5 days prior to driving to the dealership and the vehicle wasn’t present?????. Vehicle wasn’t new as advertised, and wasn’t there available at the appointment. I also requested current incentives and rebates for the 18 Elantra’s with AJ Cole over email. I was emailed a response of $3,500 AND $1000, AND 0.0% financing. Once at the dealership, we were informed that the correct language was $3,500 OR $1000 w/ 0.0%. Again, we were mislead. After negotiations on a new 19 Elantra, we went through the financial application process and the financial officer “forgot” to take our down payment. Absolutely clueless. Your dealership is a joke, is underhanded with their customers, and I wouldn’t recommend this dealership to my worst enemy. More
