We had great communication prior to the day about the time to drop off the car, securing a loaner car for the day, etc. My husband dropped the car off at 7:30AM and was informed it would be ready for pick up by midday. So to be generous, lets say midday is anywhere between 11AM and 2PM. Granted, I would personally assume midday is around noon. Anyways, I received a text letting me know that I would be receiving text updates about my vehicle as well as a link to my vehicles progress. I was given no updates via text, call, etc. The link continued to show "vehicle checked in." Just before 2:00PM I messaged asking if there were any updates. A little while later I received a text saying, "CAR IS STILL BEING WORKED ON SHOULD BE COMPLETE SHORTLY." I assumed that it would be maybe completed in the next hour.. so I informed my husband and he left work not too long later. On his way over to the dealership he called to get a more accurate time, in which he was informed it would not be ready until 5:00PM. Then 5:00 turned to 5:30 then turned to 6:00PM. Due to "midday" turning into evening, my husband, who had already been waiting a few hours was unable to continue waiting and wasting time. So instead, he had to making an extra trip and waste time on Saturday morning to pick up the car. We were given the excuse of having internal problems which we can understand, things happen.. life happens. However, our disappointment comes from the communication. No updates were given unless we messaged or called. In which we repeatedly were told incorrect information. My husband left work early due to the car going to be done shortly. A simple message when it was no longer going to be midday, would have taken 5 seconds. Accurate information about the car and their progress should have been given when asked however, when we were informed that it would be done shortly, my car had still not been seen. We are highly disappointed in the service. We appreciate Justin in the sales department and all the hard work he has put towards working with my family and I in buying cars however, we will not be recommending or returning to utilize the service department. Most people understand that things come up during the work day but when you can't communicate these simple things so your customers aren't waiting 3+ hours due to leaving work.. that's when the disappointment comes in. Remarkable Service, Change for the Better! This is what you can expect from Gurnee Dodge in 2019 and beyond. (Names of the staff and specific details of my purchase are listed at the end of This is what you can expect from Gurnee Dodge in 2019 and beyond. (Names of the staff and specific details of my purchase are listed at the end of my review). Having purchased 2 vehicles from Gurnee Dodge in 2011, I was determined never to return. The type of sales tactics, customer service, financing and not too surprisingly the service department were all straight out of a book titles "What Not To Do" and at best would have all been rated 2 of 5 stars at the completion of the sale and the following year I would have my cars serviced thanks to the Gurnee Dodge coupon book (complete scam). My next 2 vehicle purchases came from Antioch Dodge in 2014 and 2016, what can I say I believe in Brand Loyalty. The experience was far better but what they made up for in price, ease of sales and an OUTSTANDING SERVICE DEPARTMENT (My personal advice for anyone who needs their car cared for, would be to go to Antioch Dodge Service Department, in the past 7 years they have only gotten better and improved on the process and turn around time), the sales representatives and several other staff took away from with their smoking directly infront of the one entrance to the showroom, and of course there was their overall lack of knowledge about the vehicles. I revisited Antioch Dodge sales department on two other occassions, once in 2018 and 2019, while in the market for newer vehicles however nothing changed in the 3-5 years since I purchased my vehicles. This left me with really one other choice if I wanted to purchase local and get the vehicle I wanted, this being Gurnee Dodge. My expectations were low when I drove up and I even approached this care buying experience with a major chip on my shoulder. The first thing I noticed when I drove on the lot was the level of activity going on. The service department, porters, sales reps, etc all had a buzz about them. Then I noticed there were several signs on the doors almost acknowledging how the dealership was once perceived by its customers, and it they read "Under New Management". So having spent weeks researching the vehicle I intended to buy and all night going over recent reviews of the dealership, I felt confident, prepared and willing to give Gurnee Dodge and its "New Management" a chance. To my benefit I didn't have to wait long after I walked threw the doors. The representative that I first spoke with while pulling onto the lot, in a brief converstion about what I was looking, introduced himself and let me know he was in the middle of sale and so when I parked and made my way to the showroom floor, he kindly handed my business off to another co-worker, letting me know that they would take great care of me. THATS RIGHT HE HANDED A SALE TO ANOTHER SALES REP... So already I was impressed, but what was to follow I would have never believed unless I experienced for myself. First I want to acknowledge Gurnee Dodge and the whole idea surrounding sales rep working with other sales reps to benefit and respect the customers time. This level of service was unprecedented; I have left dealerships in the past simply because of sales rep whom expected me to wait while they finished a sale despite there being sales reps who where available to assist me, as if I was bound to them simply becuase I had spoken with them on the phone, over email or they acknowledged me first when I walked in. Ok, back to how Gurnee Dodge contunied to win my business. So within the first minute of walking into the dealership and being introduced to the sales rep I would be working with, I was introduced to the staff at the Sales Tower (this being the management team), I was shown were the finance offices were and given the names two gentleman who would be helping if I choose to finance my vehicles, the service department, waiting area and restrooms. Although this may not seem very important, I was amazed that the sales rep was not just insightful of the the area she work and understood that I would undoubtedly ask where I could find a cop of coffee or where the restrooms were, but she demonstrated confidence in the fact that I would be her customer and would need to be familiar and comfortable with the dealership after I purchased my vehicle. So after grabbing a bottle of water on the way to her sales counter (cafe style desk), she asked me what vehicle I was interested in and within minutes she had it pulled around to the front so I could look it over and of course test drive. Now I typically dont test drive before I know what the bottom line is on the vehicle I intend to purchase, however I couldn't argue since the vehicle had been made available so quickly. Most notably she began by listing off all the features of the vehicle and pointing out the details given to the model I was interested in. She pointed out not only the selling points of the vehicle but answered all my questions, mostly questions I had from my hours of research and used to test her knowledge of the vehicle. At this point I was sold, but not on the vehicle infront of me, having listened to what I expected in of the vehicle I was intending to purchase she pointed out that although this was the top model it didnt come with a few of the features which make the vehicle that much better (4 corner air suspension control, 360 camera, park assist). Knowing I wanted these additional luxury items she returned to her desk, searched the inventory and dispite not having the vehicle in inventory at the dealerships sister store, she spoke with management and within 5 minutes they had located the vehicle and provided me with the window sticker to review. After I stated it had the options I was looking for we began the negotiations. Now this idea here is to go into amy negotiation with a realistic knowledge of the value of which your negotiating. In this case the vehicle is understandably priced on the high end and revealed or advertised by all dealers on the low end to attract your interest and hopefully your business. This was no different for Gurnee Dodge as they showed the MSRP minus rebates and discounts, plus dealer mark ups to include the typical doc fee, electronic filing fee, optional packages (KEY WORD OPTIONAL) which varied from the Gurnee Package to maintenance plans and aftermarket add-ons. Everything was laid out for the review of the customer and consideration. Since I know the type of driver my wife and I are and the condition of the vehicles we have owned this part of the buying process was very simple. Again our sales rep was very much knowledgeable of the all of the options and final expenses. Once I gave her my offer on the vehicle minus the rebates, discounts, plus the standard fees of doc/electronic and taxes, she confirmed the offer with management. At this point you might have to wait awhile or even experience the back and forth of negotiations between you, the sales rep and management depending on where you go or if your offer is realistic. However at Gurnee Dodge this isn't the case, provided as I stated previously, you have a realistic offer. My sales rep returned with the manager who discussed the terms of the offer considering the vehicle I was purchasing would need to be delivered after a dealership trade/purchase took place since it was located at a dealership outside Gurnee Dodge network of stores. At this moment The professionalism of the staff I worked with that day exceeded all expectations and set an example of how business should take place. Let me say that based on this level of respect and dedication to customer satisfaction and service my wife and I decided to purchase a second vehicle at that moment. As with the first vehicle, the top end, fully loaded with the extra options was located at another dealership and would be delivered once the dealership trade/purchase took place. As for the pricing and negotiation, the process was just as smooth and straight forward. In my case the manager provided additional discounts since I was purchasing two vehicles (discounts are always at management discretion and typically used to pad a sale or make up for a rebate a customer may not qualify for). I no way was I overly impressed with the fact that I was given additional discounts on my purchases as this tells me that there was room to go down on my offering price, however the fact that the manager offered this after we agreed on the price and not as a way to counter my offer was a true sign that he valued my business. Now it was time to wait for my vehicles to be delivered which could take hours to days, regardless of the duration my sales rep and manager kept lines of communication open, with text updates and the occassional call. This was extremely important since I didn't put any money down to hold the vehicles and had no legal obligation to buy it, equally the dealership could have just as easily sold the vehicle(s) to another customer who would be willing to pay more. Needless to say this practice has happened in my past and I have read reviews of similar practices by dealerships who then turn around and try to sell you whats on their lot without a blink of the eye. In addition to what I would rate as reasonably prompt delivery of the vehicles, the sales rep wasted no time setting up the wireless, Uconnect, SirusXM and all other options during the time it took to deliver to use driving off the dealer lot. As for the two vehicles I traded-in, again I knew the value so when I received the appraisal I was able to express what I would accept and eventhough the appraisal was onpy off by pess than 10%, having a realistic figured helped me get get top dollar for them. Financing was similarly top rate service to that of the sales rep and management. I recommend knowing your credit score, and even have a preapproval from your bank(s), as with all dealer finance managers and reps, they make money from financing you, so do your research and understand this process and have a realistic rate for which you will accept. Additionally this is the point when they will offer additional OPTIONAL service, such as GAP insurance or extended warranties. At Gurnee Dodge it is no different, however they do not push these services on you and all expenses and the interest rate they offer you are explanned. The finance manager at Gurnee Dodge was even able to work at getting me a lower rate with a deferred payment date. He also added a rebates which were overlooked, as I am a USAA member and the dealership did not have it listed and it wasn't determined until I went to update my insurrance information. Unbelievably I was even able to share an experience with the service department during this same transactions. It is a law that a dealership cannot sell a vehicle that has an open recall. Being that I just took delivery on my vehicles and drove off the lot moments before a recall was issued the dealership could have let me wait until I received a notice in the mail, not Gurnee Dodge. My sales rep called me within 10 mins of finding out and they handle it with great urgency. The service department recognized my vehicle when I pulled up, introduced themselves, provided me with a turnaround time, took my vehicle in with no wait time and escorted me to the waiting area. Needless to say I I made some coffee and walked to showroom floor as I can't sit still. In the time it took to make a cup and look over the new Challenger SRT the service manager tracked me down and updated me, he offered to wash my truck and explained the recall and service provided and had my truck returned to me 5 minutes later. Since the completion of my sale and service the dealership has followed up on both vehicles twice and even offered advice to give a friend who also purchased a new car at a different dealership the same day but who had a completely different experience. Luckily enough the advice saved my friend over $9000 in dealership OPTIONAL markups which they pushed on their customers. As I said at the beginning of this review Remarkable Service, Change for the Better! Gurnee Dodge has made a change in the way they approach vehicle sales and the way they treat their potential, current and future customers. First Sales Rep. Jesse (handed sale to co-worker sales associate due to availability) Second Sales Rep. Kat (Exceptional service and knowledge of products, process and vehicles) Sales Manager Mustafa (Upfront, friendly, professional) Sales Manger Derec (Relatable, professional, simply gets it done) Finance Manager Angel (Approachable, knowledgeable and helpful) Service Manager Bishop (Professional, honest, reliable) Now the details of my sale 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn (All options) out the door price $59k 2019 Chrysler Pcifica Limited (All options) out the door price $48k Trade-in 2016 Ram 1500 Laramie value $30k Trade-in 2014 Dodge Durango Limited value $19k As a reminder, know your value, have a realistic offer, know the different rebates, incentives and dealer discounts as they apply to your sale. Know your driving style, mileage and area and only purchase optional services and upgrades you need (dont let anyone tell you what you need, not the dealership or your friends etc. If your purchasing a vehicle with a great warranty or you only plan to keep the vehicle for a brief period of time then you can afford to decline and extended warranty. Additionally if you live in an area were the road conditions and weather won't harm your vehicle than you can delcine packages to treat the vehicle interior and exterior, tires etc. Similiarly GAP insurance or anything outside of the vehicle itself can be declined but this is a personal choice and for some having peace-of-mind means just as much as having a panoramic sunroof. I had had an issue in the service department I just purchased my brand new Wrangler from Gurnee Dodge / Jeep and can not say enough about the service. I had had an issue in the service department with my old vehicle. But it was during the transition in ownership and the new group came in and took care of me with that issue, another issue for an out of town guest, and now my brand new Wrangler. The way they handled the issue made me want to come back to them first when shopping for my new car and I am very glad I did. With a ton of help from Ernie Lopez and Mandy Martin along with an assist from Mike Ballard I found the absolute perfect new car for me. I am beyond excited and very grateful for all of their help!
