Not a Fan I should start by stating that I know very little about cars but with ten years of sales and customer relations experience I know good service when I I should start by stating that I know very little about cars but with ten years of sales and customer relations experience I know good service when I see it. That being said, I hope my experience will be helpful to you. I had two different sales representatives assist me in this process and the second was better than the first. After looking at six different dealerships I went with this one because it was close to home and a fair deal for the vehicle (not the lowest or the highest priced). I drove off the lot at 9pm and not even 12 hours later I was getting notifications on the dash that something was wrong. Since I didn't have a owners manual to know what the exclamation marks meant I checked the tires and sure enough I needed air in one. I contacted my sales contact just in case it was something else and later that day I returned to the dealership to get a owners manual and purchase the warranty. 24 hours passes and I get the same notification, this time it's more difficult to find air at the local gas stations and I have to go to three gas stations, by the time I arrive it's almost a flat. I get air in the tire and when I go to start up the vehicle....it's dead! Being pressed for time I have to uber my way around for the day, while doing so I call the assistance number listed on the lovely key chain the dealer provided only to hear that it's an out of pocket expense to get a tow. So I call everyone I know to get jumper cables. At this point, it's been 36 hours after purchase and I'm upset. The sales contact knows my situation but is with other customers and can't do anything unless I can get the vehicle to them. So I finally get a jump and was told it might be the battery but when the car dies again ... I start to panic. So I get the battery tested, seems like that's the problem so I purchase a new battery, and while I'm there I get the tire patched in order to go back to dealer in one piece. At this point and time, I would like to return the vehicle but am told that isn't a option. After an hour at the dealer they give me a rental because it's Saturday and I don't have an appointment. Monday afternoon rolls around and I get a call saying everything looks good and they put a new tire on it so I'm good to go. I understand that tires and batteries are not covered on the warranty so I should consider myself lucky that they replaced the tire? Being the third largest purchase that one can make, I feel like the situation could have been dealt with better so I asked if they would refund me for the battery and the response was "they would look into it." (Currently a week later and still no response or update) So off I went, no full tank of gas, no car wash and no confidence in my new vehicle. Gunther VW had the opportunity to make me a client for life BUT instead this will be my last VW. We have options, so next time I am going to chose to buy a car from someone that will still care even when it's 48 hours after purchase. More
