Summary: Make sure you go through used cars with a fine-toothed comb when considering buying from Groove. They don't do their due diligence, use deceptive add-on tactics, and will completely ghost you fine-toothed comb when considering buying from Groove. They don't do their due diligence, use deceptive add-on tactics, and will completely ghost you once they have your money. Find your used cars elsewhere if you can. I came into Groove on June 19th looking for a new-to-me truck I saw online, ready to trade in and buy. My scheduled sales guy wasn't available, which was confusing, but I rolled with it. On the test drive, the salesman didn't know much about the vehicle beyond the Carfax. I noticed some cutouts in the bed where old speakers were and a broken tonneau cover, but figured no big deal and proceeded. Then came the usual negotiation games: trying to dismiss my Carvana trade offer ("those aren't real"), pushing against my credit union financing, and attempting a massive markup by tacking on a $1,299 window tint (on a truck with factory rear tint) and other junk fees. After calling them out, I got the price back down near advertised, factored in that the TRD Pro shocks had no service record, and bought it. As soon as I started it up to head home, Android Auto failed because "no access to GPS." On the drive, the audio sounded terrible. That weekend, I took it on a long drive and found out the GPS, Android Auto, and premium JBL audio were completely non-functional, pre-collision warnings were also listed in the system, and the brakes caused a terrible steering wheel shake from warped rotors. When I contacted my salesman, he told me to bring it back in. I drove back with an earbud in and a janky phone situation for navigation. They kept my truck for 3 full days. They re-calibrated the sensors and eventually did the brakes, but communication was awful—my salesman never checked in, and when they ran out of rental cars, it took a chain of managers just to approve an Uber home. They gave the truck back saying they couldn't check the GPS or audio and had "no idea" about any issues. When I had asked for the listing to prove what was advertised, I was told it was deleted and they couldn't provide it. When I asked for the manager's contact info to ask about return options, the salesman claimed he didn't have his own manager's number, but once I texted the front desk to ask for a manager to discuss return/exchange, suddenly the salesman started replying. The next day, I took the truck to an independent audio shop. In less than 10 minutes, they diagnosed that the previous owner had ripped out the stock speakers, cut the wiring, and removed OEM components. It cost me $5000 out of pocket just to get the audio and Android Auto working. Groove sold me a truck at a premium price with thousands in hidden defects, provided zero real support, and gave me the runaround until I pitched a fit. Test drive every single thing and check them top to bottom, because Groove sure doesn't. Needless to say, I've advised all my friends and colleagues to avoid Groove like the plague—they do not do their due diligence, they are a pain to deal with, and they'll gladly make use of false advertising and predatory sales tactics. We waited several days before writing this review to make sure we were being fair. We went to Groove Toyota fully intending to buy a Grand Highlander. My wife loved the vehicle, and we were ready to make a deal. Instead, we spent over 6 and a half hours at the dealership. After we agreed on price and financing, the terms changed. From our perspective, it felt like a bait and switch. During that time, the manager on duty, who never identified himself, became confrontational. The entire interaction was unnecessary and unprofessional, and my wife was uncomfortable enough to walk away. When we decided not to move forward, it was around 11.30 pm, well after closing. We repeatedly asked for the title to our trade-in and our keys back. Even then, it took another 30 to 45 minutes before everything was returned. By that point, what should have been a simple decision to leave felt uncomfortable and intimidating. The next day, someone from the finance department, not the general manager, called offering a better rate and payment if we came back. That only reinforced our decision to walk away. For what it’s worth, we bought a brand-new Toyota from another dealership the very next day. We were ready to buy; it just wasn’t going to be from Groove after the experience we had. We understand negotiating is part of buying a vehicle, but we don’t expect changing deal terms after reaching an agreement, spending over 6 hours at a dealership, difficulty getting our title and keys back after deciding to leave, or treatment that leaves customers feeling intimidated instead of respected. Based on our experience, we can’t recommend Groove Toyota. More
