I originally went to Maroone Chevrolet in August to view a leftover (new) 2009 Chevrolet Corvette Z06.. At that time, I offered them $56,000 plus TT & L for the car (and I declined to pay the service fee o a leftover (new) 2009 Chevrolet Corvette Z06.. At that time, I offered them $56,000 plus TT & L for the car (and I declined to pay the service fee of $599 in the offer). On September 12th, the salesman contacted me to let me know that they would like to reoffer the car to me and with a new manager, they may be able to come down on the price. I declined, stating that my final offer was $56,000. On Sept 16th, the salesman recontacted me stating that they would offer me the car at my negotiated price of $56,000. I then countered that I wanted $19,000 for my trade-in. He initially declined, stating that he did not think my car was worth that, and the manager did not want my car as a trade at all, so I declined their offer. I said $18,000 would be the lowest I would accept. A few hours later, the salesman recontacted me saying they were accepting my terms. $56,000 plus tax, title, and license fees plus $18,000 for my car. I secured financing and drove from Homestead to Ft. Lauderdale to accept delivery. Upon arrival, I was told that the car was in detailing. They looked at my car and decided everything was ok. I wanted to put $10,000 of the purchase price on my credit card (since the last time I was there they said that would be no problem) but they declined. While we were discussing payment, I noticed the $599 service fee added to the price. I told them that this was not part of the agreement and I wouldn't pay it. While doing so, another salesman stood there and listened, then pretended to have another customer interested in the car to try to pressure me into accepting it. I finally decided that I liked the car too much to haggle over the $599, so I opted to accept the car. As I was about to sign, I noticed they had raised the sale price from $56,000 to $57,000. They said it was always $57,000, but the salesman apologized saying it was a miscommunication between general managers, but he had offered the car to me at $56,000. They refused to honor the original price, and after I walked out, they called me with a final offer of $56,400 plus the $599 service fee (essentially $57,000). They were also going to overcharge me for a registration fee at $395 to transfer the plate/registration from the trade. The car was also now registered (dealer title), being sold as a new car with 80 miles (previously had 50). In summary, my complaint is that this organization pulled a bait-and-switch tactic by promising me one price and then trying to pressure me into a $1600 higher price once I had already driven the hour and a half to their store to take delivery. They used pressure tactics with the false sense of urgency the other salesman tried to create with the fake customer and needing the keys to test drive. They refused to honor the verbal agreement we originally made. I recommend strongly against doing business with this organization. I have filed a complaint with the BBB as a result of my dealings with them. More
