My husband called and spoke with Johnny Walker who confirmed the car was still available. We went to look at it, Johnny rode along on the test drive and then left us alone to discuss a purchase. No pressure. We then spoke with David DeLay who handled the financing. He handled it efficiently and quickly. Now, a year later, we had some problem with our extended warranty for repairs. I called David who had the problem handled within a half hour and told us if we EVER had problems with the car to call him and he would personally take care of it as our satisfaction is his main concern. Really read this Hey there, I tend to wait a month before giving reviews on just about everything for reasons just like this. The short version is that Gresham Toyota Hey there, I tend to wait a month before giving reviews on just about everything for reasons just like this. The short version is that Gresham Toyota sold be a $30,000 'Certified' Tacoma with a tire they knew leaked and had under 40% tread, delamintion on arm rests, a cracked windshield and a dashboard with loose pieces. The longer version involves almost $2000 in added fees that I never agreed to, shady negotiation tactics and zero follow up after I have asked repeatedly to have these addressed. More

I drive for a living, and this place has made what should be the busiest and most lucrative week for me an absolute nightmare. Came here Thursday for a simple inspection on my car, because I was told by another mechanic that I needed a new head gasket. I was quoted an hour and a half wait time on this inspection, and told that if I got the car repaired at Toyota, they would knock the price of the inspection down. Two and a half hours later they tell me that I don't need a head gasket, but I do need a tune up as well as a different type of gasket. They then told me they would not be able to knock down the price of the inspection, even though I agreed to leave it there to be repaired. I was told my car would be ready "mid-day the next day, about 10 AM", that it would only be about an hours worth of work, but they were super busy. Friday came and ended up sitting next to the phone until 2 PM, when I gave up and decided to call Rob, my service provider. Rob tells me he had JUST THEN called the mechanic and hadn't heard anything, but that my car should be ready around 3 and someone would be sent to pick me up. I was picked up at 3:30 (Remember, I drive for a living; so this is now a day and a half that I've missed of work for "one hour" worth of work on my car) I get to the dealership, and everyone is confused. They had no idea that my car was not only not ready, but that the gasket they replaced "failed". I was there to pick it up and go straight to work. They then tell me that it will be ready Saturday morning, and offer to give me a rental. Keep in mind- not only do I drive for a living, but I also drive a tiny Scion IQ for parking purposes. They offer a Prius as the smallest car they have - not specifying what type of Prius. Guess what they drive out with? The Prius model that is JUST AS LONG AS A MINIVAN. The thought of having to parallel park this giant 2-3 times each hour, for 9 hours a day had me in tears. Saturday morning, I call. I'm told my car is now going to be ready around 1 or 2 pm, and that I should receive a "full report in 30 minutes". I did not receive a call for over an hour. The "full report"? The part all of a sudden never came in from San Francisco, and won't until TUESDAY. I was NEVER told this part was coming from SF until this point. We're now looking at a 5 day wait for "an hours worth of work". Rob FINALLY tells me he's giving me $100 off my service for the inconvenience, even though I'm missing up to 5 days of work for all of these errors. Supposedly, Rob has called every rental company in town to get me a smaller car in the meantime. He called to tell me they MIGHT have a smart car for me to rent Sunday. My car MIGHT be ready by the end of Tuesday if there aren't any other issues. I can't just get a definite answer. Im upset, broke, and cannot advise enough to go to any other Toyota dealership for service. This has been a nightmare from beginning to end. IN A RESPONSE TO WHAT THE DEALERSHIP HAD SAID: Today, 8 days later, yes the part was received by be dealership and after a $100 discount negotiation, I was still overcharged $8. Whatever, not worth adding into the pile of lies I've been told over the past week. i was told by both Grant and Rob that I would receive a phone call first thing in the morning, about 9 AM when the shipment came in. I did not call either one of them until 11 AM this morning, 2 hours after I was promised to hear something. I have the phone records to prove so. I was told the other day by Rob that the shipments don't normally come in until 12:30-1 PM, so I was originally shocked when Grant told me they get them earlier. As I'm picking up my car, Rob tells me he has "an excellent reputation in the city for his ability to be upfront and honest." That's hilarious, given what I have gone through and the additional losses I have experienced outside the dealership by missing days of work. Not only am I furious with my experience here, but they have the nerve to continue to lie on a freaking review website. Zero stars. The only human in this experience that deserves any positivity is the shuttle driver. She was a delight and had a beautiful outlook on life. I wish that service carried into the dealership itself. The salesman, Jarvis, was friendly and went out of his way to accommodate my tight schedule that day. I had seen the car on their website, so I called ahead to make sure it was still on their lot. Jarvis walked out to the car with me on his cell phone, confirmed it was there, and answered some important questions about the specific car (I wanted it NOT to have a sunroof, because I'm tall and need all the headroom I can get, and he confirmed that the car indeed did not have a sunroof). I then told him I would stop by "sometime in the early afternoon" to look at the car, and he gave me his cell phone so I could call when I was getting close. A few hours later than I'd originally planned, I called when I was about 20 minutes away. He answered immediately even though he was eating a late lunch, and said he would meet me on the lot. When I arrived, someone had moved the car, but he scrambled and quickly found it. I went for a test drive and decided to buy it, but had to leave to pick up my daughter from school, so I told him I'd be back the next morning to buy it. The next morning, the car was ready and the sale seemed to be going smoothly. I was disappointed to discover that a "Certified Used Car" such as this only included one key, but the sales manager agreed to provide another for free, which made me happy. THE BAD Then I went in to sign the paperwork with a "Business Manager." I told him off the bat that I was pre-approved at my own credit union and didn't want to finance it elsewhere, but he insisted on showing me what he could offer. I let him keep talking, although I needed to get to work. I figured maybe he was genuinely interested in getting me a better deal. When he finally stopped, I repeated that I wasn't interested. Then he pulled out his brochures for the Extended Service Contract & Warranty. He explained that "we don't sell the Toyota extended warranty, because we have something better." He then went through a long spiel about what good coverage their "Zurich" warranty provided, and proposed that I pay $2,500 for it. I said, "No, I'm not interested." He asked me why and I said, "Well, I'm buying a Toyota, which has a reputation for quality, and it's certified, so I don't expect it to break soon." He said, "Believe me, our service department is just as busy as any other," which made me think, "OK, you're telling me this Toyota isn't dependable. Do you know something about this specific car that I don't? Maybe I don't want to buy it after all...." He then offered to drop the warranty price down to $1,800, and I said, "I'm done talking about service plans & extended warranties. Please stop talking to me about them." He then had the nerve to offer to sell it to me at what he said was, "$200 over cost," or around $1,500, which led me to conclude that: 1) He's trying to earn a commission from selling me this $#%& extended warranty! 2) Without even trying, I've "negotiated" a 40% discount, which makes me wonder how much I've over-paid for the car itself! I wish I had walked out of his office then & there and called off the entire deal! There are plenty of other Toyota dealers in this region, and all of them have certified used Venzas, so it's not like I had to buy from them. But I didn't walk away because I wanted to take the car and be done with it. Also, I'd already told my wife she could leave, so I no longer had a ride home. Should've called her cell phone immediately.... Now, three weeks later, I'm happy with the car, but I still have a bad tasted in my mouth from the 30-40 minutes I spent with that sleazy-salesman of a "business manager." For this reason, I will NOT recommend Gresham Toyota to anyone else. If you do decide to buy from them, I suggest you mentally prepare yourself to defend against high-pressure sales tactics at the close. Based on the tactics and attitude of that business manager alone, I do not trust the dealership. More
