Honda does not provide a spare tire in their new accord hybrids. I was told it was a weight issue but may be a space issue. 2 1/2 weeks after we purchased my wife’s 2024 Accord Hybrid Journey in early October 2023 the tire indicator light came on indicating a low tire. She stopped and put air in the low tire and drove straight to Greg May Honda to have it looked at. The service writer said the low tire was low due to cold weather and did not have a puncture. The next morning the low tire indicator light came on again. I called and talked to a Greg May service writer who assured me that the low tire indicator light was the culprit and again due to cold weather. The light came on several times over the next few days and we were told to reset the light when that happens. My wife decided to take the car to Discount Tire and have the tire looked at. Discount Tire found a screw in the tread of the tire. But the tire itself had run low for so long that it ruined the tire. In anticipation of a flat tire, we kept the donut spare that was in the 2010 Accord that we traded in for this new 2024 Accord Hybrid. Discount Tire’s policy would allow them to put 10 yr old donut spare on the car to drive it back to Greg May to take advantage of the road hazard warranty and get a new tire. We had to have our new car towed to Greg May dealership where they had to order a new tire so we waited another day before it could be fixed. This all was so unnecessary because the service writer, and or the technician saw fit not to look for the screw in the tire in the first place. Since that time, my wife has had another flat on her accord hybrid and this time it was a piece of metal that had wedged itself into the tire tread. we called Greg May Honda at noon for the road hazard Warranty service and was told we could bring it in at 4 PM the next day and if a new tire was required they would have to order it, which would further delay the repair another day. Honda Roadside Service does not provide spare tires if they come to assist. You must already have your own spare in the trunk together with the tools to change the tire. Greg May Service Writers in the first incident were not sympathetic to the dilemma we were in and were downright rude when we challenged their answer to our situation. Honda Motors needs to find an option to put a spare tire in their Hybrid Accords. Greg May Honda Service writers need to be more customer oriented instead of acting lthey’re the only show in town.
