They said it was not recommended, however, the Subaru Book states that under severe conditions, and high mileage, the CVT TR690 Transmission Filter, 31728AA190, and the special Hi-Torque Fluid, sold in 5 gal. pails only, should be changed, and also noted by Subaru, that any other fluid will destroy the TR690 Transmission.
