Test drove a Certified Honda Preowned Insight. When it turned on a warning of "Supplemental Restraint System Problem. See your dealer" was lit in the console and the salesperson, Beth Locke saw the warning with me. Beth said she would alert the service department. Beth texted me later that when she checked the car later the same warning did not come up. I replied that I was interested in the vehicle and if I could come the next morning with a cashier's check for the vast majority of the cost of the car and the rest with a personal check and she replied "yes" and scheduled a 10am appointment for the following morning (a Saturday). I got the certified check and was driving to the dealership Saturday morning to purchase the car and got a call from Beth that when she went to bring to car to the front that the warning light was on again and that she alerted the service department. I said that until that was dealt with I was not going to pick up the car (OBVIOUSLY), but was still very interested if the issue was easily dealt with. She replied that "she had the keys" so no on was selling it. I related that the next time that I could come in was likely the following Monday evening and asked her to keep me appraised of what was going on with the servicing of it. I got an email tonight, Sunday, that "Unfortunately, someone placed a deposit on the vehicle with another salesperson while the vehicle is in service. I apologize, the Insight is no longer available." Beth never asked me to or told me I had the opportunity to leave a deposit on the vehicle and my understanding by her saying "I have the keys" was assurance that it would not be sold as we were awaiting the outcome of the servicing for the restraint system alert. This process leaves me pretty disgusted with Beth and this dealership. More
