Granite Hyundai in Somersworth, NH gave me bad vibes from the moment I parked. Salespeople looked out at me through the front windows like I was a potential "mark" the second they saw my old Hyundai Accent. the moment I parked. Salespeople looked out at me through the front windows like I was a potential "mark" the second they saw my old Hyundai Accent. Fortunately, I was able to ignore them and walk straight over to the Service Department. I had an appointment to get a repair quote for two specific known issues and figured it was reasonable to see what a full-fledged Hyundai Dealership could do for me. Despite knowing exactly what I wanted/needed repaired I was told that I'd still have to pay the hourly shop rate of $180 and allow their own technicians to determine those problems on their own. I understand that they would want to give an accurate quote, but most places give a complimentary multi-point inspection with repair recommendations. I don't understand why they couldn't do that here, especially since I wasn't asking them to do any investigative/diagnostic work. I proceeded to then wait over two hours —despite being scheduled beforehand and not a walk-in— for the technicians to scrutinize my vehicle bumper to bumper. Noticeably, after about 1.5 hours my Service representative updated me saying that his department was having trouble sourcing a particular set of discontinued parts. More than 30 minutes went by before he returned (after supposedly sourcing these parts) before delivering an outrageous repair estimate covering everything "found wrong" with my vehicle. I kept trying to steer the conversation to the two known issues that brought me in that day but the Service representative repeatedly circled back to the overall total of the repair estimate and several times questioned whether it was even a smart idea to repair my older vehicle. Clearly, the intent of this interaction was not to actually repair my vehicle but to convince me to buy a new one. It wasn't until I finally told him that I was currently between jobs (and waiting for a scheduled orientation date to start my new job) that my Service representative shut up real quick and let me leave. Unfortunately, my frustrations weren't finished because I later called the Granite Hyundai Parts Department in an attempt to directly source the necessary quoted parts and perform the installation work elsewhere. I was surprised to be told that since those parts have been discontinued that they cannot be sourced through the Dealership. I proceeded to explain my entire earlier interaction with the Service Department but the Parts representative proceeded to make excuses, claiming that the Service representative must have been speaking generally about parts pricing and availability but hadn't actually confirmed that they could get them. I replied clearly and confidently that, NO, the Service Department not only claimed to have successfully sourced those parts but that they made wait an additional hour during my scheduled appointment in order to "successfully" do so. All the Parks representative could say in response was, "Well, I can't speak to that because I wasn't there." The totality of my interactions have led me to view Granite Hyundai as very untrustworthy. I will not be going back. More
