I had a couple of VW's in the shop for different problems and the problem are usually fixed. The issue I ran into is the last four out of six times my vehicles have been in the shop they do not put everythin and the problem are usually fixed. The issue I ran into is the last four out of six times my vehicles have been in the shop they do not put everything back the way it should be. They left oil pan bolts loose when they fix my 09 Routan when it was burning oil. They mess up a key and had to order me another on on my 06 passat, which took about 4 months to get. They did not put the inside back together right and even broke some things on the dash and had to order more part for the passat. Recently left bolt loose on a repair to fix a vacuum leak on the passat. They did a multi point inspection with the vacuum leak repair and told me everything else was fine ha! When I got home I checked the oil and it was two and half quarts low! I call them and they do say bring it back and they'll take care of it but each time I have to take off work for their mistakes which should have been done right in the first place! My wife and I have delt with them for several years now! In my opinion their service department has went from great to poor over the years and for that we will no longer continue to be a customer! While I am very satisfied with my car, I will not do business with this dealer again. Service is slow and very pricey, and they harassed me by phone and e-mail to buy a new car or get my service there d business with this dealer again. Tried to use supplier discount, wouldn't honor it. Tried to deal anyway offered me less than half of the trade in value on my car took very little of sticker and Jason was even slightly rude to my wife(I wa to deal anyway offered me less than half of the trade in value on my car took very little of sticker and Jason was even slightly rude to my wife(I wasn't there). Told her to walk out. Found several dealers within a couple hundred miles who would honor the supplier discount program and drive the vehicle to my door! Went with Hiley vw out of Huntsville. They are great!! right to my door with a full tank of gas. More
Gossett Volkswagen of memphis is one of the best car dealerships I have been to. I have purchased several new cars in the past and every time I have ever purchased a car the salesperson has always tried dealerships I have been to. I have purchased several new cars in the past and every time I have ever purchased a car the salesperson has always tried to pressure sell me. At Gossett, the sales person that helped me never pressured me at all. When I purchased the car, it was saturday evening and the car I was interested in had not yet been cleaned and detailed by the dealership. There was also just a slight issue with the alignment as the car was a dealer trade with about 450 miles on it from another dealer. I went ahead and purchased the car and told the sales person I could come back on tuesday morning to get the alignment taken care of. I came back on tuesday and the service staff were very friendly. They gave me a rental to use while they worked on the car and detailed it. It only took them 2 hours to do the work. This has been by far the best experience I have ever had buying a car from a dealership and getting a car serviced at a dealership. I highly recommend this dealership to anyone who doesn't want the hassle of high pressure sales or dealing with frustrating service departments. More
I visited this dealership three times to test drive and make an offer on a used vehicle. All 3 times times there, I had to walk into the showroom to find a sales person after walking around the lot for 30 make an offer on a used vehicle. All 3 times times there, I had to walk into the showroom to find a sales person after walking around the lot for 30 minutes. Once a sales person could take their attention away from the football game on the tv in the service area, they acted like they didn't care if I looked at the car at all. In fact, on the test drive, the salesman was texting as I asked questions about the car. Not only that, but when did jeans and a sweater become professional sales attire? The car I tested needed some work so I made a lower offer than they wanted. It was a cash offer and obviously, they were not interested in such. They didn't bother to counter or even take down my contact information when I told them my final offer. I even went so far as to email their internet sales department to inquire as to the lowest amount they would take for the car, and they still haven't gotten back to me 3 weeks later. This just isn't how you do business. I would like to thank the one salesman who was at least cordial to us inside the dealership. I would recommend that the sales manager clean house with the exception of that gentleman. More
Took my New Beetle TDI there for some work. When I got it back the "original" problem seemed resolved but all power shut off while driving down the interstate. (Luckily with diesel I don't need power it back the "original" problem seemed resolved but all power shut off while driving down the interstate. (Luckily with diesel I don't need power for spark Plugs - so I made it back to the Dealer). Took it back to them and they said my alternator was dead (to the tune of $1,000 for parts and labor). They gave me quite a bit of attitude when I told them that Alternators dont cause power outages since the battery should supply "some" power when it is fully charged (and mine was). So I brought it home and looked at it myself. Come to find out - they had taken the ground wire loose (not sure why) and only finger tightened it. Once I re-tightened it, I never had another issue (and never returned to this dealership). More
I contacted Gossett because they are only 4 miles from my house and they had a new Jetta Sportwagon Tdi listed on cars.com I was interested in buying. Contacted the dealer and was informed that car had been house and they had a new Jetta Sportwagon Tdi listed on cars.com I was interested in buying. Contacted the dealer and was informed that car had been sold and later told it had not arrived at the dealership. They tryed to sell me a Jetta they had in stock. I wanted what I wanted. They even quoted me a price on a car I did not want. Anyway, I requested they order the car from the factory. There reply was THE FACTORY WAS NOT ACCEPTING ORDERS! I did not mind the wait to get the car. They just wanted to sell an instock Jetta. At this point I was a man of a mission. Contacted AAA the auto club's buying service on the internet. They were Great!!! They found a dealership in Mobil AL. Dean McCrary VW & they were also Great!!! Ordered the exact car I wanted & it will be in my driveway in about 90 days. But the best part is I saved about $1200 dollars over Gossett VW's best price. I recommend to anybody in the market for a new car use a buying service. You can save lots of money as I did. Triple A's or any buying service will get you a better price than you will ever get on your own. Happy Motoring, Sam in Memphis More
I was very hesitant to take my car to Gossett based on the other review I read here. However, I didn't really have a choice because this was the only VW dealership I could find in the immediate area. F the other review I read here. However, I didn't really have a choice because this was the only VW dealership I could find in the immediate area. Fortunately for me, my experience was drastically different from what I expected. Everyone was very polite, friendly and professional - even the other employees who did not work in the service department. I was very impressed. Gary, my service consultant did a very good job of keeping me informed of the progress of my car. They also gave me a standard complimentary car wash. I would definitely recommend this dealership to others. I would suggest you visit for yourself and do not go off the negative review from the previous poster. More
Gossett VW failed to perform a recall when they had the chance and it caused my car to die while on vacation. I went in for service after receiveing a VW recall prenotification letter for defective coils a chance and it caused my car to die while on vacation. I went in for service after receiveing a VW recall prenotification letter for defective coils and getting a check engine light (CEL). The letter said the recall would be performed if I had a check engine light. I checked the codes myself and saw 3 misfire codes and one emissions codes. The dealer service advisor said if the root cause of the CEL was not related to the recall I would be charged. Sure enough the dealer said it was not the coils that are being recalled that caused the faults but an emissions purge valve. How that valve caues misfires on 2 different cylinders I don't know. Anyway $180 later they send me back down the road. A few weeks later I drive my car down to San Antonio and have severe engine misfires. The CEL is blinking and I have to have the car towed to a dealer while on Chrsitmeas vacation. They, Ancira VW (great service), check and find misfire codes and replace the coils under the recall. If Gossett had performed the recall when they had the chance they could have prevented my car going down on Christmas vacation. Thank goodness that the car died in San Antonio and not on the way down in the middle of nowhere. The prenotification letter I showed Gossett stated the coils could be replaced if a CEL light was on and they chose not to make the case for the repair. The repair that was done may have been needed but did not address the misfires that later caused the car to die in San Antonio. More
Went in for warranty re-work (arm rest broken, a-pillar trim, rear view mirror mount cover). All stuff that was not fixed right or reassembled right after previous repair at other Memphis location. Also 2 trim, rear view mirror mount cover). All stuff that was not fixed right or reassembled right after previous repair at other Memphis location. Also 25K mile service (oil change) and balance and rotation. Thomas was professional, offered a shuttle service to take me home to wait, they had wireless internet just in case. He called with updates. Told me what parts needed to be ordered. Then called me back the next week when the parts came in and set-up an appt the next day. He quoted the work to be under $120 and the invoice was $118. Going to pick up the car now and expect it all to be great. More
