Mr. Matthew Taub neglected to state that he did not buy the vehicle from our dealership and that his 2007 vehicle has over 107,000 miles on it. Mr. Taub only ever visited our dealership once. At 105,583 miles we replaced his spark plugs which included a no charge visual brake inspection. We found the front pads measured 5mm and rear 6mm. New pads measure around 10mm, so he had about 50% pad life. Mr. Taub contacted us 1 month later asking we pay for brake work he had done at Bucaro Brothers Auto Care in Chicago. His claim of complete brake failure does not seem likely as 50% brake life should not wear away so fast. Nissan Certified technicians did not get a chance to examine the failed brake pads in question. I worry that Mr. Taub may have been taken for a ride at Bucaro Brothers. He could have gone 4 miles to the nearest Nissan Dealer. Here at Boucher Nissan, we take our inspections seriously. We would never skip steps like this and put our customers or our reputation at risk. Mr. Taub, it sounds to me that your complaint needs to be with Bucaro Brothers in Chicago.

Maybe you failed to understand that the reason for going to Bucaro Brothers was that as I approached an intersection in Downtown Chicago the brake pedal went almost to the floor while the piston in the caliper "popped" open resulting in an inability to brake properly. This is hardly something Bucaro could have made up, since I had to slowly limp their with a horrible grinding sound when I braked. I never wanted the cost of the brake job covered simply the $90 for a caliper as a result of pad wear. The nearest Nissan dealer was 15 miles away, a far distance in the city. Your response to my review should only prove to anyone reading that you are unwilling to provide a simply resolution to a problem (offer a $20 credit) and would rather blame the customer and a Mechanic who helped him out greatly. It is obvious you skipped steps and I am glad your response shows your true lack of customer service commitment.

I would also like to point out that in an obvious breach of any confidentiality and poor taste you have chosen to print my full name. I have no problem as I stand behind my complaint, however you apparently thought it apporpriate and necessary to publish my entire name. This should also serve as a warning to any potential customer.

Finally I would like to point out a few inaccuracies in your reply: • My 3 year old Nissan had 105,583 Highway miles when serviced and 106,231 miles on it when the brakes failed • The “free visual brake inspection” is actually called a 27-point INSPECTION • My entire complaint focuses on the fact that there is no way there was 50% remaining due to the complete wear of the pads in 3 weeks and 800 miles. Something supported by your claim “it does not seem likely it would wear so fast” Only strengthening my claim that you did not actually inspect the brakes but merely checked a box • Although the vehicle was not purchased from your dealership it was purchased new and maintained by the book by only Nissan Certified Technicians at Nissan Dealers across the state (Since you wanted me to take it to a dealer in Chicago, it shouldn’t matter to you which Nissan certified technicians looked at my vehicle) • Again, I NEVER requested payment for the entire brake job, but for the caliper, since I see it as a cost that resulted from lack of preventative maintenance due to a poorly done inspection report. I didn’t even ask for the labor charge. Also, nothing was ever even offered to me, not even an apology, just allegations I was trying to take advantage of you. • Finally, as a result of this ridiculous situation I have purchased a New 2010 Acura TSX and do not plan to ever deal with Nissan or any Boucher dealership ever again.

*Correction the brakes failed at 106,900 still not a lot of miles for 50% of brake wear and not over 107,000
