Great Car...even better experience. We live in Upstate NY and found the used XC90 that we wanted on the internet. But our experience at the dealership when we picked up the car was second to none. We were treated like kings by General Manager Frank Mastrovito.. We were taken care of very well after our 5 hour drive. Everyone was kind and friendly. Paperwork was quick and easy and I couldn't believe that I walked out with a warranty that I never expected to have..and my car payment was still well within my budget! We were shown every aspect of the vehicle - the interior and exterior features were thoroughly explained. We even enjoyed a great lunch at a charming restaurant close to the dealership before we said goodbye.. What an experience!!! Frank and his team know how to do business, they make the customer the focus..Usually car buying is a stressful and draining process that my husband and I dread having to do every few years..Not the case with Hassel Volvo, When we're ready for our next vehicle we will be making the more than 250 mile drive to Hassle without hesitation! Our salesperson was Cary Ann Bruce and she was not your stereotypical car salesman. Her focus was on helping us to find a car that suited us rather than just making a sale. There was no pressure and she made sure that we had all the facts before we committed to the purchase. We are very happy with our car and with the service that we received at Hassel and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to our friends. More
I registered with Costco's Auto-Buyer program in order to take advantage of discounted pricing on a 2011 Volvo S80 for my wife. They indicated that Hassel Volvo of Glen Cove was the current Long Island partcipating dealer, and my contact info was sent to them for follow-up. Sales Consultant Brendan Callender phoned me later that afternoon, and after some prliminary questions about what I was seeking (color, options, etc), he went to work compiling candidate vehicles so that by time I met with him later that day we'd have a short-list to work with. Unfortunately my specifics turned out to be a bit restrictive, and only 1 well-priced S80 in inventory came marginally close (not favorite color), which I in turn would have to try to convince my wife to settle on when I went home later that evening. Having an inkling she may balk, I asked Brendan to alternately give me a quote on an S60 (if only because I like it) in a color / options I figured wifey might sway to. As it turned out, she put the kabosh on both, and when I showed up the following day to break the news to Brendan, he worked hard to track down another S80 that fit both my wife's aesthetic parameters and my budget. Thank you Brendan, Daniel Irvine (Sales Manager), Anne Marie Vivona (Business Manager), and Frank Mastrovito (General Manager) for collaborating to make this deal happen. More
I did not get my car serviced at Hassel--I went there to get a part that was not in stock at my usual dealer. For the same exact part (verified by part number), Hassel charges $24 more. Their name is the real irony here, and I'm sure they hear that a lot. This was the easiest and most pleasant experience I've ever had buying a car. After my local dealers didn't want to work with me on price I searched Autotrader and located the car I wanted in the color scheme I wanted. The car was at Hassel a dealer I had never heard of since I live in VT. I sent them an email that night and they called me the next day. The conversation basically went like this: Them: "So you're interested in...how's the price?" Me: "Depends on what you give me for a trade." Them: "What do you need to get?" Me: "Well, one dealer offered me this..." Them: "Does that get us the deal?" Me: "Yup, you can send the paperwork over and I'll start the process." Them: "Send us some pictures of the inside and outside of the vehicle." Me: "No problem. One other thing, I recently had back surgery and Long Island is a long drive from VT." Them: "Tell us the place and the time and we'll meet in the middle." We met in the middle, I signed the paperwork, they swapped the plates, and we were done. The car was exactly as advertised, had been freshly detailed, and had plenty of gas to get me back to VT. They will definitely get a call from me when I need a new vehicle. More
Back in November I had been interested in leasing an XC70. With about a month remaining on my (then) current lease, I had done the research, chose the packages I wanted and went to this dealership beca XC70. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon. I walked into the showroom and browsed around. I was greeted by David Cohen, who was helping someone at the time but assured me he would be right with me. So far so good. He was very pleasant and polite and was far from the "salesman" type (you all know the type I'm referring to). After a brief discussion of the car, I agreed to come back another day to go for a drive after sorting out some circumstances. A few days later I returned. We went for a drive. Pleased with the car, I was ready to make a deal. After putting the numbers together, he came up with a monthly payment (over $600). It was MUCH higher than what I expected. OK, nothing new, having leased several cars before, this is not shocking. I had then told him a price range that I would be comfortable with (note: my goal was to be fair and not low-ball since afterall, they have to make money). He then has to "consult" with his manager. This is the point where things went sour. The manager comes over, shakes your hand, sits down, and then the pitch begins and you're treated like a sucker who was born yesterday. Guys, with the whole "bring out the manager" routine, you're not re-inventing the wheel here. After he attempted to convince me what a "great deal" this was, I had been turned off and left. At a different dealership, I found the same car (options and conditions) to be $100 a month less. Today I am a proud owner of an XC70 that I got elsewhere (see review for Karp Volvo). The most unfortunate part of this story is that I really liked David Cohen and wanted to do business with him, but the manager (it was either the sales manager or the general manager) and his obnoxious strategy ruined the experience. Hassel Volvo made my process of buying my first car hassle less. I have only leased cars (2 Volvos: 01 S40 & 05 S60, and most recent a 08 Honda accord) and went in to test drive the new S60 which I lov hassle less. Frank the manager came up to my Dad and I and said I think I have a car that is perfect for you. I really wanted to be back in a Volvo for the security and peace of mind having AWD and the winter mode offers. He showed me an 07 S60 that had everything I wanted and more. Ann Marie was outstanding with guiding me on what would be the best financing plan would be for my current financial situation. I left feeling confident and excited! They treat you like family. Hassel Volvo for Life! More

There are several dealers between where I live and Hassel, but I will continue to take my business there. I did not want a lot of options on my vehicle, which made it difficult to locate. Brendan stood by the price and ordered the car for me. It was delivered to me on time and exactly as I asked. Kudos and thank you to Brendan and Ann Marie. More
