Third time is a charm I encountered a problem while on vacation where my car was not recognizing that the car was in park and the error message "shift neutral" kept appeari I encountered a problem while on vacation where my car was not recognizing that the car was in park and the error message "shift neutral" kept appearing. The first fix was to adjust the gear linkage. I took the car home, it was not long until the same message appeared again. Second fix, install new gear linkage. I took the car home, made a couple of trips to the store and back, but within 2 days the error message came back. The third and final fix was to replace the gear shift knob. Now everything is back to normal. It would have been nice to have had all three fixes at once, but I am happy that the issue has finally been resolved. Thanks for not giving up on the problem and finding the solution. Teresia Johnson More
