Went in for timing belt replacement as scheduled in owners manual at 50,000-60,000 miles. Cost several hundred dollars, no problem. Found out from top notch and honest dealer in California later that their shop manuals recommended new interval for changing improved timing belts at 115,000-120,000 miles at least two years prior to our purchase of our Subaru Forester. This dealer is scamming customers out of hundreds of dollars at twice the frequency of service intervals that Subaru parent company recommends and has been for years. Defrauding customers and providing obsolete owners manuals in spite of dealer shop service updates/directives is unethical and dishonest, to say the least. More
