Everything went well today from the get go. When making a sharp, left turn I’d feel a thump from my left front wheel and a slight jerk or shifting movement. It was subtle but distinct. A couple of weeks earlier I had brought my car to a shop in the city where I live. I recently bought 4 new tires from the shop and wondered if the front left thud issue was somehow related to some new tires. The mechanic at the tire shop test drove the car and diagnosed the problem as needing my front end lower control arms replaced. I had confidence in his evaluation but ended up taking my car to Gillman Subaru of San Antonio a week and a half ago thinking the repair might be covered under its extended warranty. The mechanic at Gillman’s who first checked out my car just did not feel the same thud I had felt when making sharp left turns. So with trepidation I drove my car home, and the problem continued. I went ahead and scheduled a second visit to Gillman’s Subaru a week and a half after the initial visit. This time another technician, Richard Brown, drove and checked out my car. He determined that the left lower control arm bushing had excessive play and needed replacement. The bushing was replaced, and now my car's left turns are normal. No thump, bump or sensation that the car's wheel is slipping. I can totally feel the difference. What a relief! Thank you, Richard Brown and Anissa Rodriguz of Gillman Subaru of San Antonio. I appreciate your help. You’re awesome. What a team! P. S. Additional good good news for me today: The front end left lower control arm bushing replacement was in fact covered under my Forester’s extended warranty. I ended up having to pay only a small deductible. Hip, hip hooray! More

My experience with the service department on this particular visit was very different than it normally is. I arrived a little after 1pm and there were several cars parked ahead of me so I wasn't surp particular visit was very different than it normally is. I arrived a little after 1pm and there were several cars parked ahead of me so I wasn't surprised when no one came out to greet me like they usually do when I come earlier in the day. I was surprised once I walked in though. There was one lady helping a gentleman at one desk and then one other gentleman sitting behind a desk further down from where I entered. He never called me over nor asked if he could help me so I just walked over to him. He was slouched over in his chair and looked at me as though I was bothering him. I told him I spoke to Marissa on the phone about why I was coming in and told her that I just need to get my cabin filter changed today. He proceeded to up-sale me, which is fine, I understand that's part of their job, with the bacterial deodorizer, which Marissa did too over the phone and I told him not at this time and he continued to push it a bit after I said no, but he did so with an attitude and said changing the cabin filter was more than likely not going to fix the issue. I again said no, just the cabin filter. Then I asked if it was possible to check the Freon levels because the air doesn't seem to blow out very cold until I reach my destination and he told me that it would cost $200 just to check because my vehicle is a drop engine. I repeated back to him "so it'll cost $200 just to check the levels" and he responded very rudely with his head cocked to the side said "mmmyeah" so I naively asked if there was some kind of diagnostic test they could do instead and he rudely shook his head and said "nope". I looked at him with such shock and disappointment over his attitude and said "okay Justin". I proceeded to just walk towards the waiting area and asked "your name is Justin right?" He VERY SASSILY replied back to me "IT IS!" I had had it at that moment. It took everything in me to not turn around with all my kids in tow and tell him how everything about the way he just treated me was tarnishing the reputation of this service department. Then I walked into the waiting area and it was so dirty. There were dirty napkins and used coffee cups on the side table and the silver trash can that is usually behind the pillar in the middle of the waiting area wasn't there so I couldn't even throw it out. Justin came up to me about 10-15 minutes later and said "unless you want a car wash I can get you out of here now". I was so confused. I was thinking to myself "is he trying to get me out of his face or is he trying to give me proper service now". I told him I wanted the car wash and he said okay and walked away. About 10 minutes later he came back and told me the car is done, but my wiper is torn I told him I'll deal with it next time. When I was signing the paperwork he actually told me "at least it was a quick visit". I don't think I even looked at him. I just responded with a "hmm" and headed out the door with my kids. His responses aren't even necessarily the issue. It's the sassy attitude that he used to deliver them. When I tell my kids that we're going to Subaru, they get excited cause they get to play with the camping xxxxxxin front of the fireplace and have a couple snacks and I truly enjoy the service I usually receive. (Usually from Don and Marissa, those two are great!) It really is refreshing especially in the moral climate the world seems to be in today. If this visit was the norm though, I would probably try to find some mechanic that knows how to work on my vehicle in order to avoid having an experience like I had this day. More

When we first started searching in March, we we're not contemplating buying a new vehicle, we thought we wanted a used car. After visiting Honda, Mitsubishi, Volvo, Audi, Toyota, and Hyundai, we circled back to Josh. With his assistance, we finally decided on purchasing a new vehicle on June 24th. Praise the Lord! The Crosstrek Sport is a perfect addition to our older Outback. We have been coming to Gilman Subaru for service since 2020, and have always received superb customer service. We appreciated Josh Gutierrez's professionalism and over all genuine care as he has patiently, without pressure, guided us in our decision-making process. Adam Smith, on the day of actual purchase of the vehicle, was also very patient with explaining everything detail related to paperwork. Almost two weeks after our purchase we could not have been more satisfied. We are grateful to God for His provision. More
