I mentioned the light and that my car was at 60K miles and needed preventative maintenance. I dropped off car at 3pm and had a ride to a work meeting; told service staff I would be back around 5pm. When I returned I was told that I owed $$ for the service and that there were a couple of recommendations for future service. The girl at the checkout was unsure exactly what they were but was able to tell me that one was $120ish and the other was $730, but she could not explain exactly what they were for. She recommended that I call the following day as the service staff were done for the day, and stated they could provide a clearer explanation and price. I left and as I started driving away my engine alert was till on so I turned around and went back to the service dept. The young man who had just given me my car 5 minutes ago, then tried to check me in for service and had no recollection of just giving me my car. Normally that might be funny, but I was not in that kind of mood. I was told by a different service person that the light will not go off until I correct the recommended service and the cost would be $500. I asked if that was the same service they had just told me was $730 and he said yes, he just knew it was a lot of money. I was shocked and disappointed that none of this was made clear to me when I picked up my car. They did text a video to me, but I was unable to watch it because I was in a work meeting while car was in service. I called the following day and spoke with someone very nice on the phone and explained my need for the Engine Coolant Bypass Valve replacement asap as I had been told by the $500 guy that I needed to get it done as soon as possible. This was on a Friday. The phone consultant said I could come on Monday and confirmed the cost would be $730. I asked about warranty and he stated it was not covered. I also schedule a shuttle service so I could drop my car off on lunch break and return to work that Monday. I went nowhere that weekend for fear of damaging my engine. I dropped off my car 9/25 Monday and another service person checked me in. He looked over my previous paperwork from Friday and then stated right away that he could see I had an extended warranty and the work would be covered. I couldn't believe my ears. It was great news, but I also couldn't believe how many other people had misinformed me previously. Overall I was pretty disappointment with the service department on this visit. It turned into a Friday through Monday ordeal full of stress, and I lost a significant amount of trust in the Deluca Toyota brand. It is so unsettling when I am not able to rely on the expertise of professionals. I hire you because that is not my expertise; I count on you to do your job to the best you can and to educate me on what you are doing and why. That is the whole point of hiring a professional. I don't how you will solve this problem, but it seems to be a customer service/communication and staff knowledge issue. I hope you will take the time to rectify this for future customers More
After having an unpleasant experience at another Toyota service department I decided to bring my 2022 Rav4 to DeLuca Toyota for 20k service. While this service department was much better, i was disappointed when Byron, the service advisor, told me I was going to need a new cabin filter soon. Unfortunately this was not true since I had just changed the filter myself! I don't blame Byron for the misinformation since he was just relaying the information on the vehicle inspection form which I assume was filled out by the service technician. I would say that the service technician did not physically look at the cabin filter otherwise he would have seen it was brand new and wouldn't have mentioned it on the report. I was glad however, that they didn't try and sell me a new filter that day but the fact it was mentioned is disappointing. More
