So nice to have a woman salesperson instead of a salesman who usually think women do not have a brain in their head. Poor Sales; Horrible Finance Experience Be very cautious and careful with this dealership, especially the finance manager, Matt L. They are sneaky, cheap, and liars. We did buy a preowned Hyundai Tucson from this dealership after visiting both of their dealerships in Lakewood Ranch, but the story is much more involved and we made sure everything was in writing so they couldn't back out. We consider ourselves very well informed and savvy car buyers. During our first visit, we encountered a salesman who couldn't get this numbers right on what it would take to get a preowned car certified. It ranged from a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars. Ridiculous! On our subsequent visits, we were assigned to another person after complaining about the first guy. We did, at first, like the new salesman but his true colors came out later after the deal. Bill M. claims to be on your side and agrees with you but could care less about your satisfaction once the deal is signed. The first issue that was basically an "internet bait price" was the $1000 credit for financing through them and $1000 credit for a trade, neither of which we had since we were preapproved elsewhere and didn't have a trade. As part of buying this car, the dealer agreed to install car mats in both the passenger and cargo areas and a cargo screen along with some other minor bodywork. When asked about the "110 multi-point inspection report" during our discussion, we were told by the salesperson that he would get it if we bought the car. I knew then I should have insisted on seeing it immediately. In addition, we were told by the salesperson that they would have the keys and fobs for us. We signed the deal on a Saturday night and didn't pick up the car until the following Friday. Upon checking the car, we noticed they installed black mats in the passenger area instead of brown, the color of the interior. I immediately questioned why black mats were installed instead of brown and I received the response it was based on the VIN #! After I returned home with the car, I did more research and found that brown mats should have been installed. More on this later. The cargo mat and cargo screen were supposedly "on their way". Then, the salesperson makes the comment "you are lucky, we gave you 3/4 tank of gas. We usually only put in 1/2 tank". Please, how cheap can you be when another 1/4 tank would have cost maybe $6-10? I then asked about the inspection report and once again, received some watered down answer. The final straw was that they did not have the key fob and provided only the physical key. Once again, another "miscommunication" by the salesman. He didn't even take a few minutes to review car with us like most salespeople do or ask if we had any questions. I am not sure he would have even known more than us anyway. After returning home, I exchanged a number of emails with the salesperson documenting all of our requests for them to fulfill our agreement. I kept receiving excuses and promises of call backs, which never happened. I finally told him I would be coming to the dealership and turning in the black mats in exchange for the brown and expected them to complete the order in our presence. So, knowing we were coming in, you would think the salesman would have everything arranged and ready to go, but no, he had to meet with the sales manager a number times to get things moving along causing us to waste another 2 hours of our time. He said he had the cargo mat but, of course, it is black so back it goes along with the passenger mats and an order is placed for the correct ones. The salesperson then tells us the cargo screen is being dropped shipped to our home and that the paid for it out of his own pocket! Can you imagine a salesman doing that? Either he is stupid or the dealership pulled a good one on him. Next on the discussion list came the status of the keys. Unfortunately, we didn't have this in writing and took the salesman's word on it. Our error but who would think a car would be sold without complete sets of keys. So, after a lengthy discussion, it was going to be our cost to buy another key and 2 fobs, totalling $350! This was supposedly their dealer cost but in checking other dealers, we found lower prices(lied again). Another sneaky aspect to this dealer. They should be up front with the buyer so they are aware no keys are available and what the cost would be. Icing on the cake: as mentioned in the beginning, we went car shopping preapproved by our own lender. After agreeing on the deal, we met with the finance manager, Matt Langliter(?). Immediately, the hard sell began, pitching the gap insurance, certification and extended warranty; none of which we accepted. He did say he would match the interest rate we had if we financed through them. We told him fine since it didn't matter as long as the rate and terms were the same. So, we did sign the loan papers and he stated he would not process them until we called him. He would void it on Monday if we decided to go with our own lender. Well, on Monday, we called him and he told us that he could NOT match the rate so we said fine we would proceed with our lender. As mentioned above, we picked up the car that Friday so the financing all went through fine from our end but it was like pulling teeth to get Matt to respond to us with both faxes and emails. Low and behold, a week later, we go to our mailbox and what do we find but a coupon payment book from the dealer's bank! We were livid. This unethical person put both loans through so the dealer got paid twice for our car. The first thing we did was call their bank and explained what happened. They said we were still responsible for the loan even though it was the dealer's error. We immediately drove to the dealer with the coupon book and dropped it on Matt's desk and wanted to know why this happen. He just looked at us like deer in the headlights asking us to refresh his memory what happened when he knew damn well what happened. He "supposedly" processed a retraction to the bank. He did not even have the courtesy or decency to say he was sorry until my wife challenged him why he couldn't even utter the words to us! I made a followup call to the bank to let them know what happened and they said they would monitor the payoff and let us know. Our biggest issue now was that we would end up with 2 auto loans on our credit report with one being erroneous. Our warning to everyone, be very way of this guy!!!! This was also noted by other reviewers on this site. Update: it literally took a couple weeks of multiple follow up calls by us to the bank to finally get the loan paid off by the dealer. Needless to say, we will never do business at this dealership again. We are very surprised about the 5 star ratings given. If you do business with them, make sure everything you discuss or agree to is in writing or you will regret it. If the Gettel family reads these reviews, they should take a close look at how their management operates their dealerships, unless of course, they approve of these tactics. More
