I am a person who dreads going shopping for a new or used car. I don't like the high pressure sales techniques employed by many sales people in the profession. It makes the experience uncomfortable and frustrating. Yesterday my wife and I walked into the Gettel dealership in Punta Gorda and were greeted by Justin Yurkovitch. He was relaxed and chatted with us for a few minutes before he asked how he could help us. We told him we saw a couple pre-owned Equinox's on line that we would like to see. He showed us both cars and we went for a test ride in one. We decided we liked it and began negotiating with him. We actually felt like he was working with us. At no time did we feel pressured about agreeing to anything. At any rate we came up with a plan that worked for us financially and we decided to purchase the car. We also had to meet with a finance manager I think his name was Mike (?) and we went over the finance paperwork and talked to him about the pros and cons of some options like an extended warranty, etc. Once again we felt no pressure from him and we felt like he was giving us open and honest information. So from a 74 year old guy who has owned many cars and has rarely had a no pressure experience at a dealership this experience was the total opposite. I hope the dealership somehow rewards their salesmen for how they represent it because Justin and Mike(?) seem like the type of employees you may want to have representing you for a long time. We did not want a huge payment and were worried about arriving late, not finding an affordable vehicle, and not getting the transaction completed. Mark found a perfect pre-loved vehicle and got us an affordable payment. He is very knowledgeable. Even though the dealership closed while we were there, no one rushed us. On Sunday February 18 I was driving Cheverolet Equinox on I-75 when my wipers suddenly stopped working. I was able to get to the next exit and to a gas station. I could not get them to work so I searched on I-75 when my wipers suddenly stopped working. I was able to get to the next exit and to a gas station. I could not get them to work so I searched on my phone for the nearest Chevrolet dealership. Gettel was about 6 miles away so, with the flashers on, I drove to dealership. My plan was to leave my vehicle to be repaired and get a car from the dealership to drive back to my home in Cape Coral. I meet up with an employee in the lobby and explained my situation. He said I could fill out a form and leave it and the keys in the drop box but he couldn't give me a car to drive home. I asked if I could rent a car. I had no way to drive my car home it was raining. He said he couldn't help me. He stated I could drive to the airport and rent a car. I had already driven in the rain with my flashers on to get to the dealership. He said he could sell me a car but other than that he couldn't help me. I have purchased over a dozen GM cars and trucks over the last 40 years. I presently own two trucks and the Equinox. This employee didn't care that I was stranded. He offered no assistance at all. I ended up driving, in the rain, to the airport. I had to call a friend in Cape Coral to come and get me because the airport car rental didn't have any cars. I urge everyone to not do business with this dealership. This employee was only interested in making money. More
