BUYER’S BEWARE, I am writing this review to hopefully help a future buyer be better informed about this dealership. A bit over a year ago, I purchased a luxury used vehicle from this dealership. The pu help a future buyer be better informed about this dealership. A bit over a year ago, I purchased a luxury used vehicle from this dealership. The purchase of the vehicle on the sales side went well without complaint. Once you decide on a vehicle you are directed to the financial folks to finish the paperwork for purchase. This is when the issues begin. The finance department is tasked to complete the paperwork and sell you all kinds of ad-ons (warranties/ service contracts, etc). I typically do not purchase these items, but let them go thru the pitch. However being this is a luxury used vehicle with a lot of extra features, I did give it some thought. The finance person went thru the warranty and made several claims that these warranties cover typical mechanical issues, electronics and specifically the touch screen in the main console, which she commented costs about $6000.00 to repair. With back and forth conversation about that specific item and other coverage we decided to purchase a plan, which did cost upwards of $4000.00. Fast-forward to current, the vehicle began to have problems with the touch screen that control many functions within the vehicle. We took the vehicle into a Gettel dealership to have the touch screen checked out. The service department’s opinion was the touch screen needed to be replaced. Being a different dealership with in the Gettel group, we informed them we had purchased a warranty for these items and wanted to file a claim. A few hours later the service rep called us back and said the warranty company would not cover the touch screen. We explained to them that the finance person at the dealership said specifically this item was covered. So we contacted the warranty company directly and were given the same information. We then contacted Gettel Sarasota and talked to the finance manager about the issue. We were told that there is nothing he could or would do. We asked to speak to the GM of the dealership, which he has never attempted to contact us. If you chose to buy a vehicle from this dealership, please be aware the finance department stereotypical used car sales tactics to get you buy an extended warranty. The finance department misrepresented the warranty and quit frankly lied to us to get the sale. Considering the response from the finance manager and the lack of response from the GM, it concerns me and maybe would concern a future buyer that these folk know about the unscrupulous tactic to get you to purchase these warranties. Hopefully this review helps a future car buyer to make an informed decision about purchasing from this dealership. More
