Wish to buy my daughter her first car. We found a used Hyndai Tucson (on line) at Hatfield that looked perfect--low mileage and great price. My call was forwarded to Lori who was friendly and helpful. There were no photos on line so I asked her to confirm the color of the interior of the black vehicle. She called back and confirmed it was grey: exactly what we were looking for. I even called a second time to CONFIRM it had a grey interior and AGAIN I was assured it did. I live in Pittsburgh PA but gave a deposit and made arrangements to take a FOUR HOUR Greyhound bus trip to Columbus to pick up the car. (took a $35 cab from bus station to Hatfield as well!). When Lori brought the car around, one look and I was horrified to see what was clearly a brown and tan interior. Lori said (quote)"That's definitely gray!" Even the sale tag on the rear window read, "Interior: Taupe". I was furious AND disappointed. Lori never admitted she was wrong--she did apologize however. The sales manager, Larry apologized as well and asked what he could do "to make it right". We settled on the idea of finding me a NEW Hyundai Tuscon (I even agreed to a GLS versus the Limited we came to purchase) and in a matter of 5 minutes on the phone, he declared that they could do nothing unless I wanted to pay almost $6,000 more than the price of the original car. It became obvious that there was nothing they were willing to do, so I insisted on them renting me a car to drive home. Larry was hesitant at first to pay for the rental but finally agreed to do so. The entire experience was unacceptable. The $50 bus trip and $35 taxi trip aside, they made me feel like an idiot for not taking the black car with the brown interior. It was not what we wanted. I speak professionally worldwide about the Customer Experience and Hatfield has become a new story to relate on what NOT to do to ensure loyalty from customers. More
