Darlene was wonderful and went over the vehicle's options as well. Wonderful buying experience, been a Chevy gal for over 30 years but I love my new car. Thank you as well. Wonderful buying experience, been a Chevy gal for over 30 years but I love my new car. Thank you More
tl;dr: I wish this dealership had not (intentionally?) given me wrong information to push a sale, information that ultimately led me to fly half way across the country to purchase a vehicle . . . only to given me wrong information to push a sale, information that ultimately led me to fly half way across the country to purchase a vehicle . . . only to find that they could not process the purchase in a timely manner. Weeks later, after flying (instead of being able to drive) back, I am still waiting to take possession of the car I have purchased. ------------------------------- First off, let me say that I am thoroughly impressed with and quite fond of the new Genesis brand/line of vehicles, especially the G70 model that I ultimately chose to purchase. It's an outstanding vehicle that from my perspective compares well against comparable classes of vehicles offered by BMW, Mercedes, and the like. Kudos! Unfortunately, I've had an absolutely horrid experience thus far attempting to purchase a vehicle via a Genesis dealership (Boucher Hyundai/Genesis of Waukesha). After finding a vehicle advertised online, I contacted the dealership to initiate purchase. Being located in another state (I'm very particular when it comes to options/colors/etc, and as I'm sure you know it's somewhat more difficult than normal to find a specific vehicle right now - hence looking/considering vehicles out of state), I was informed that I would not be able to purchase the vehicle remotely and have it shipped to me and would instead need to travel (from Texas to Wisconsin) to complete paperwork in-person to complete the purchase. I'm not sure if that is a common requirement, especially in the year 2021, or one imposed by this particular dealership of their own accord, but fair enough. I found it odd that I was completing digital documents when I arrived onsite anyhow, but I digress. Given the need to travel a considerable distance to complete the purchase, I proactively provided the dealership with a prequalification letter regarding financing the vehicle, two recent pay stubs to confirm income, a copy of my driver's license, and a copy of my current insurance policy. I asked repeatedly if any other information/documentation was needed from my end, and I asked repeatedly that as much of the process as possible be completed beforehand, before I flew from Austin to Milwaukee/Waukesha. I was informed that everything was in place and that the vehicle would be ready for me to drive off the lot when I arrived in Waukesha, and I subsequently made plans to drive the vehicle back from Waukesha, WI to Austin, TX post purchase - given that I would have to travel to Waukesha regardless, I decided to plan to drive the car back in lieu of shipping it, taking a few days and making a road trip out of it . . . the first vacation time I would have taken for myself in over two years. On Saturday, April 30, 2021 I flew from Austin to Milwaukee. When I landed in Milwaukee (less than one hour before my vehicle pick up appointment), I checked my phone and noticed a received message from the GM of Boucher Hyundai asking if it was my intent to drive the car back. I was a bit disconcerted, as I had already made that intent well known to the dealership staff and had asked (repeatedly - I was adamant that I would not fly to Wisconsin until the car was ready for me to drive off) for confirmation that doing so would not be an issue - I was previously told it would not be. When I arrived at the dealership to complete paperwork, I was informed that not everything was ready and that I would not be able to drive the car off that day. With the dealership being closed on Sundays (the next day), I seemed to be presented with very limited options. Truthfully, I was quite frustrated - it was now evident that I had flown out there simply to (digitally) complete paperwork, that I would have to cancel my road trip plans and fly back, as well as to pay for shipping on the vehicle. To their credit and perhaps in acknowledgement of some of their missteps, the dealership did apply an additional discount to the purchase price of the vehicle. However, the amount did not cover the cost of travel/shipping the vehicle. Further, (perhaps a consequence of being in a sales profession), the dealership staff did not seem to understand that the frustration was not all about costs/money. I now had to cancel my first vacation of any sort in years, I had to figure out last minute travel arrangements as I had intended to drive the car back, and I did not immediately have the vehicle to start using for practical transportation as I had been planning and as I had been told I would. Despite all of this, I tried to be understanding - life happens. I completed all of the paperwork and flew back from Milwaukee to Austin the same day. Since that date (4/30), I have experienced continual delays to the purchase/shipping process, and I have still yet to receive my vehicle. In fact, it still has yet to leave the Milwaukee area. I believe this to be in part due to the sloppy completion of purchase paperwork on the part of the dealership (my address and other information was incorrect and inconsistent across the various documents - something I pointed out to the dealership long before I flew out) and a lackadaisical approach to communicating/coordinating the shipment of the vehicle - I was originally told the vehicle would be picked up for shipping on Monday, 5/3, which then became Wednesday 5/5 or Thursday 5/6. As I understand it, the vehicle was finally picked up on Friday 5/7. From what I've been told, the vehicle has gone from sitting in a lot at the dealership to now sitting in a lot with the shipping company a few miles down the road. It is now Thursday, 5/13, and despite being told that I would have the vehicle in around ~7 days from the original pick up date of 5/3, it continues to sit in Milwaukee and has yet to even start it's journey to me here in Austin. Perhaps any delays experienced now/with the shipping company seem to be a separate matter that does not involve the dealership. However, this was the shipping partner recommended by the dealership (All City Towing) and the shipping was in part coordinated by the dealership. Rather than taking possession of the vehicle on 4/30, I am looking at going out of pocket for a not insignificant amount of money for shipping while still not knowing with certainty when I will actually receive the vehicle and be able to start using it. Perhaps if this were a secondary vehicle these delays would be less of a concern, but the vehicle purchased is intended to be a daily driver, and each day that receipt is delayed further is another day of practical logistical challenges/burdens I have to navigate. I've made this perfectly clear to the dealership, as well as it's shipping partner, and neither seem to be concerned in the slightest or to be trying to help/expedite the process - each has pointed to the other as the cause of the delays. Aside from the burdensome inconvenience of not being able to use a vehicle I was fully expecting to be able to use by this point (and told as much during the sales process) and aside from having to cancel my vacation, I am also now sweating about the title and registration appointment I have scheduled here locally. The offices that handle those items here in Texas (or at least in Travis County) are currently doing so by appointment only. The earliest appointment I was able to book was 2 weeks out, an appointment I am now likely to miss, and I am not certain I will be able to schedule another one before 5/31, when the temporary Wisconsin registration and temporary Wisconsin plates are set to expire. Whether it changes your decision to do business with this dealership or not, I wanted to share my experience so you can make an informed decision. Hyundai/Genesis have built some very nice vehicles, and in terms of quality, style, features, and certainly value, they stand up very well against those of other luxury car manufacturers such as Mercedes and BMW from my perspective (it's why I decided to buy one). However, if my experience is any indication, the "luxury experience" provided via Genesis dealerships or perhaps just Boucher Genesis/Hyundai of Waukesha is extremely lacking compared to that provided by those other brands. As a former C-Class Mercedes owner/driver, it's been night and day comparing the quality and timeliness of customer service provided by Genesis vs Mercedes (or even an everyday brand like Toyota, which I have also owned/experienced dealerships thereof) - I was passed around to no less than 6 different staff members while trying to make my vehicle purchase, it was evident throughout that the conversations I had with one staff member were not thoroughly relayed to the next one, I was given wrong information despite asking multiple times for confirmation (perhaps in hopes of driving home a sale), and the dealership seems rather indifferent to my concerns around receiving my vehicle timely and deaf to my pleas for help in addressing them. I still love the G70, but truthfully I'm not sure if I would make the decision to buy one again. I'm not sure if it's a Genesis thing or perhaps very narrowly a Boucher Genesis thing, but this entire process has been (and continues to be), in my opinion, an unreasonable pain in the xxx. It was my hope that the vehicle would be more convenient to own than others, but it is proving to be quite the opposite, and that's just talking about the experience while I (for some reason) don't even have the car yet. Genesis has built some incredible vehicles that are quite an experience to drive. I hope the experience offered by the dealerships doesn't ruin a good thing for them. More
