I have purchased many vehicles in my life, I had money in hand for the vehicle, I did my homework on the vehicle, I asked questions, I requested specific information and for specific pictures to verify I knew what I was making the drive to buy, and was treated as though not only an idiot who can’t operate basic functions like air conditioning but also left without the vehicle and out hundreds of dollars in expenses. I could write a novel detailing specifics about this experience, but this site won’t allow it, so please do yourself a favor and go to a place where they treat you well from the beginning. Two positive details about this experience are my family and I made it home safely and Carl (I believe the dealership owners son) compensated me for my hotel room I had stayed in the night prior in order to be there and get home for work the next day. Suggestions for dealerships and salespeople, imagine you are going in somewhat blind to purchase a vehicle whether out of state or a mile down the road, and treat the customer as a stakeholder, because anything and everything less is unkind and rarely results in a satisfying relationship. People desperately seek routine, structure, and healthy relationships, and this is true for business and personal relationships. People crave familiarity and if you treat the customer as described above, they will be a customer for life. If not, well I think you know what will result. More
