Good Salesperson - Beware the Financing Department When we went into Gatorland Toyota we brought our own pre-approval from Capital One finance. We showed this to the salesman immediately upon entering. When we went into Gatorland Toyota we brought our own pre-approval from Capital One finance. We showed this to the salesman immediately upon entering. We did not want to use Toyota financing. After negotiating for hours, we agreed to a price and came back the next day to finish the transaction. Only then were we told that they couldn't honor the price they agreed to unless we used Toyota financing. We agreed that if they could match the capital one terms we'd use their financing. They did match the interest rate, but did not clearly disclose to us the $150 "financing charge" that is immediately applied once you make the purchase. The finance manager pointed to the bottom line on the loan document and told us "see, we took it [meaning the difference in terms] out of the price". HOWEVER! On Gatorland Toyota's deceptive loan documents, THE BOTTOM LINE IS NOT THE SUM OF THE ITEMS IN THE LIST! Do not fall for this! They give you a finance document and you'd naturally assume that the bottom number is the sum of the ones above it. It is not! If you finance through Toyota Finance they will charge you a $150 fee which they will not clearly disclose. When I spoke to the manager who commented below his response was "well that goes to Toyota not us" - why would I give a darn about whether the $150 goes to the dealership? I still have to pay it. I don't care if it goes to the Queen of England, if you add that fee on and don't tell us about it, you misrepresented the deal. Additionally, for some reason they ran my credit 3 times for one loan - before even knowing the rate! CapitalOne can offer a rate without a hard pull. And I see no reason they would've needed to run my credit twice as "Southeast Toyota Fin" and also as "Gettel Enterprises In" both on Equifax. In my opinion that is very shady.
