Update: Well, the Mustang got a thorough inspection and it didn't take long to discover that honesty is not one of Gateway Classic Car's virtues. With the exception of gasoline, every fluid in a car leaks from this one. Motor oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid and coolant are all readily apparent under the car and on the floor underneath it. The rear main seal has to be replaced, the transmission needs (at the very least) all new seals and the power steering pump is being replaced. The radiator is still yet to be determined, but the general mechanical condition of this car is certainly NOT what it was purported to be by Mike Wahlen. Again, I wasn't expecting to buy a car sight-unseen and get it with no issues, but the information that was provided from direct questioning from me was at the very least misleading and at worst completely dishonest. The Wisconsin's Buyers Guide attached to the windshield and signed by Tim Dollmeyer and Billy Flahire specifically addresses the categories of no shifting problem (inaccurate), no known or visible leaks (inaccurate), and no engine heating/cooling system problem (inaccurate). Yes, the car was purchased as-is and that is circled on the same form. I said that I understand the risks of that in my original post and that's the chance I took with this car. I'm not asking for anything from Gateway Classic Cars or the former xxx owner, other than the title and paperwork which they STILL haven't delivered to me more than 2 weeks later. My review is solely for the purpose of informing others of the huge risk they take in dealing with the dishonest and disreputable people connected to Gateway Classic Cars. Do not trust anything that anyone connected to Gateway Classic Cars says or that they put into writing. Definitely do not buy one of their vehicles without having a thorough inspection by an independent mechanic because they cannot be trusted to disclose the true condition of the cars they sell.
