Shopping for Certified Pre-Owned Mazda3 My wife and I were interested in purchasing a Madza3 hatchback. I called Garden City Mazda a few days before coming in and set up an appointment with My wife and I were interested in purchasing a Madza3 hatchback. I called Garden City Mazda a few days before coming in and set up an appointment with Mimi to test drive the new 2018 model. We came in on a Sunday and met her and test drove the car. She was incredibly friendly and did not pressure us at all into discussing numbers. After going over our finances, my wife and I decided to look for a certified pre-owned Mazda3, as that was a little more within our budget. After searching on MazdaUSA.com, we actually found the ideal car we were looking for, which happened to be at Garden City Mazda. I called Mimi and put down a $500 deposit on the car, and agreed to come in later that week to test drive it and make a decision. We came in that Sunday and saw the car and test drove it. We liked the car very much and decided to try to buy it. We noted a scratch on the door and some dirt in the interior, and Mimi assured us that everything would be fixed and cleaned ahead of us picking up the car. We then sat down to negotiate the price, and the expense sheet she showed us was $2,700 above the online price listed for the car. I anticipated a few taxes and fees, but that seemed incredibly high to me. I told her what we had intended to pay, and she went to go get a sales manager to further discuss with us. The sales manager came out, and unfortunately, I cannot remember his name. He was a relatively young man who was at first quite friendly and said that the price we were hoping to pay was impossible. After I asked him to go line-by-line through the sheet with me, he saw a $600 fee on the sheet he said he "wasn't sure why that was there." After haggling back and forth for about 20 minutes, we shook hands on a total price. He left to go get an updated sheet for us to sign, but when he brought it back, the price was $250 higher than we had just shook hands on! I was very frustrated by this, and he claimed that he had misunderstood and thought the price we had agreed on was the base price before fees. I told him that was not true, we had clearly just agreed on a total price and that his excuse did not make sense. I was prepared to walk out the door, but he got up and said he would see what he could do. Mimi, who had been watching the entire negotiation, told me that I was absolutely right and she would go talk to him. 5 minutes later, Mimi returned with a sheet that had the price I had originally agreed with sales manager on, but he did not come back. He did not apologize or congratulate us on buying the car. It was the last interaction I had with him. Mimi told me after we had signed the paper that the scratch would be fixed within 24 hours and that we could pick up the car as early as the following evening (Monday night). We scheduled a time for me to come in Wednesday evening to get the car. On Wednesday morning, Mimi called me and said that they had been unable to fix the scratch, and that they would need to remove the door and repaint it. She said that I could get the car Thursday night. Then Thursday morning she called me and said that the paint would not be dry in time to get it that night, so I would need to come back on Friday. I could not make it on Friday so I scheduled a time to come Sunday to pick it up, a full week after making the purchase. I confirmed with Mimi on Friday afternoon that the car would be ready for Sunday and that she would be there to assist us in finishing up. On that Sunday, my wife and I headed out to Garden City Mazda to pick up the car. On the way there, the business manager called us and asked if we were picking up the car that day. I said yes, we were about 10 minutes away and that I had confirmed with Mimi. The business manager let me know that Mimi was out of town but that she would get the car ready. When we arrived, we paid for the car and waited for it to be ready for us. It took over an hour of us waiting for them to put the license plates on, and when we finally saw the car it had not been cleaned! The inside of the car was filthy, there were stains on it, and there were water marks all over the windows and paint. We took the car home and it has driven fine since we received it. Overall, I would not recommend this dealership. They tried to scam us in the negotiations and were not honest about when we could pick up the car, and on top of that didn't even clean it. We felt comfortable coming to Garden City Mazda on the basis of their strong reviews, but we certainly did not have a positive experience. I will not be servicing the car there in the future. More

We saw Julio who was wonderful and very helpful but the 1st financial person Barbara was very rude, and made my pregnant wife very uncomfortable with some comments she made about her belly. 2nd I purchased my car July 30th and it was delivered to me with a scratch on it Mike the manager and Julio the sales person told me to bring it back for it to get fixed,it is now August 20th and still not fixed, I have tried to speak to the service department who told me to speak to the person who sold me the car, I spoke to Julio who told me to talk to Mike and the run around continues. I’m highly disappointed with this dealership since I always wanted a Mazda but this place made me very upset about the entire sale. I will not be recommending anyone here and when my lease is up will be taking my business elsewhere. More
