I reported a fraud complaint to the Federal Trade Commission based on the Auto Loan Scams guidelines. (https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/auto-loan-refinancing-scams) and to the Office of the New York Commission based on the Auto Loan Scams guidelines. (https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/auto-loan-refinancing-scams) and to the Office of the New York State Attorney General under the subject of New Car Purchase Dispute. (https://ag.ny.gov/file-complaint/consumer/vehicle). Here I forward the information to you, Mazda USA as well. This email serves as a formal written report for further legal purposes as well. I purchased a Mazda CX-50 from New York Garden City Mazda on April 24 2023. There is a unexplained, hidden fee of $2495 on the financing contract, in which I've so far not been explained at all. 1) The MSRP was $34570. 2) The price on the financing contract (page 2, line 1) was $40399.43. Subtracting the sales tax $3334.43, the car itself would be $37065. 3) There is a $2495 (MSRP $34570 - $37065) discrepancy. For the above reason, I sent an email to the financing manager to inquire about the discrepancy (his email is jli@gcmazda.com), and up to today I still have not received any explanation from him. Additionally, I sent an email to the Sales Representative, Danny Han, who sold me the car, to inquire about this issue. First, he told me it's due to $1000 MSRP markup + the tire and wheel protection program. In which, his answer is not true and misleading. I replied to him: "The tire and wheel protection is listed separately on Line I of the financing contract, which is $1595 not $1495. And a pricing breakdown is not provided at all before and during the sales. You told me it was sold on the MSRP price. With 1000 additional with the financing plan, that would make the effective rate 1.75%, which is not 0.9% at all. If the 1000 is part of the financing option, then the advertisement would be considered false advertisement, which potentially violate the false advertising law. Also, no written material or pricing breakdown was provided before purchase , notifying me this cost, is also a unethical practical of commerce. Here, I request a fully break down of the price. " Up to this point, Danny Han and the Garden City Mazda ignore my inquiry and refuse to provide a pricing breakdown at all. To summarize: 1) As a consumer, I have the right to know how much I pay for an item, which Garden City Mazda did not provide at all. 2) The Garden City Mazda as a whole demonstrates poor professionalism and lack of respect to clients, and also in many ways breaking the laws and providing misleading information and potentially commited fraud and false advertising. Here is what I will do: 1) seek legal assistance to follow up on this incident; 2) continuation of report and communication with the regulators on Garden City Mazda's malpractice of business; 3) provide negative feedback on Garden City Mazda on search engines and social media until the following requests are met... My requests from Mazda USA: 1) provide me with a formal pricing breakdown of what I've bought. No lie. No game. No hiding of pricing. 2) investigate Garden City Mazda's unethical practice as mentioned above. More
The Absolute WORST! BEWARE!!! Ever hear of Bait & switch? These guys made a deal with me, we agreed, signed a contract, put a down payment on it and I spoke to 2 ma BEWARE!!! Ever hear of Bait & switch? These guys made a deal with me, we agreed, signed a contract, put a down payment on it and I spoke to 2 managers. All good right? Nope! I put insurance on the car, sold my old vehicle, was excited to pick up the new car....... On the day of pick up, the salesman surprises me with "You have to talk with the finance manager". (We were clear this was a cash deal). The finance manager proceeds to tell me I either finance the car or I pay $995 extra for the car!!!!!! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS DEALER PEOPLE!!!!! More
I brought my CX-5 in for service and was really disappointed. The technician that worked on my car I believe his name is Xavier showed completely no care when servicing my vehicle. Me being the per disappointed. The technician that worked on my car I believe his name is Xavier showed completely no care when servicing my vehicle. Me being the person that I am, I checked the dipstick before I drove out of the dealership and good thing I did because it looked about 2 quarts low. I’m having a hard time understanding how dealership can’t even do an oil change correctly and when I brought it up to the service manager Juan, he basically told me to get lost. Do not go to Garden City Mazda and specifically do not go to the service department. Juan the service manager is completely careless and shows no regards for his customers. More
I strongly urge anyone considering doing business with Garden City Mazda to reconsider. Despite having purchased two vehicles from them, I can confidently say that they are the most expensive and difficul Garden City Mazda to reconsider. Despite having purchased two vehicles from them, I can confidently say that they are the most expensive and difficult dealership I have ever dealt with. I am still extremely angry towards them after 3+ years. Their service department is a complete joke. As someone with extensive knowledge of cars and vehicles, I can attest that their service team is utterly useless. They never listen to all of your concerns, often jotting down only half of what you say and frequently getting it wrong. Even when I have provided them with ample proof of an issue, including documentation from online forums and other sources, they simply brush me off. Their technicians are poorly trained and unprofessional. I have had multiple issues with their service, including having to take my car back multiple times to fix the shoddy work of their sloppy technicians. They also overcharge for their services, charging a whopping $799 per axle for brake replacements, while another dealership charges only $580 per axle. Their oil change prices are equally outrageous. Their trade-in process is just as bad. They will lowball you on the value of your trade-in and pressure you relentlessly to accept their offer. They will even go back on their word and try to renegotiate the terms of your agreement at the last minute, leaving you feeling completely cheated. In addition to their poor service and overcharging, their newest manager, Steve, is a lying and incompetent individual who makes promises he has no intention of keeping. The overall experience at Garden City Mazda is one of extreme frustration and disappointment. Garden City Mazda is a rip-off and a scam. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. You will be much better off dealing with a reputable dealership that values its customers and provides quality service at a fair price. I will never stop sharing stories of my countless awful experiences. This pathetic excuse for a dealership is an absolute disgrace, and I am filled with nothing but loathing and disgust for the way they operate. More
Made me come in 3 days and wait total of 10+ hours only to backtrack on terms at the finance table. Claimed that credit card deposit refunds must be requested in person and after doing just that, no confir to backtrack on terms at the finance table. I spoke DEALERSHIP HIDDEN MARK UPS, HIDDEN "FEE'S. EXTREMELY shady practices. On 3/24 I called this dealer about a Mazda 3 that I was interested in. I spoke to Cesar briefly and he told me that there was already a deposit on it and he'd call me back if it was available. 10 minutes later he called me and said he can get the process started as the car was available. MSRP Mazda 3 for $28,715. I sent my drivers license and all of the information he requested. I am familiar with cars and have purchased many different cars before so this process was relatively straight forward. On Saturday 3/25 I went into the dealership to go pick up the car and get the finance documents signed and finalized. We waited for about 2 and a half hours at Cesars desk. He was being very nice and helpful setting up the apps, letting me know some features, etc. I go upstairs to finance and start signing documents. As a previous purchaser off many different makes and models at dealerships before I was waiting for the document that shows each and every itemized price, tax, fee that shows you your run down on how much you will be paying for everything including financing. I asked him wait, this isn't adding up? What's going on? He turns his monitor around and they showed me that they were actually charging me over $3,500 over MSRP for the car. This translated to more because of taxes. Cesar comes upstairs when challenging this and explains it's a "Mazda dealer fee and it says it on their website." For 2 and a half hours we sat at this dealer explaining every little part of the deal and car but left out the part that they were going to overcharge me 3k. LOOK AT YOUR FINANCE DOCUMENT next time you sit down here. Or if you've purchased a car in the past. They put the sales tax then total wit hit added instead of putting the price of the car, then the tax, then the total. Jason at finance helped me out and told me that he was going to "fix" this since it wasn't discussed. Today I go over my finance documents while setting up my online account and realize that even after "fixing it" there is a missing $1000+ out of the total price that went hidden and lost in fees or whatever scam they're running. Mark ups are well known factor in purchasing a car during covid times. COVID times are over. There are still low inventories for cars but most dealers will at least DISCUSS this with you and not try to hide them in shady ways on the contracts. Today I tried calling them to discuss the discrepancy in my financing. 17 phone calls later and I was being ducked. I couldn't even speak to a manager. I finally got ahold of Jason when I told them I'll just come in person if they keep hanging up on me. He sent me the final itemized invoice that was conveniently left out even after everything. OF COURSE, to without my knowledge, they left out a $1895 "BANK ACQUISITION FEE". In what world do you charge almost $2000 for this? These shameless people are scamming hardworking, everyday people who are just excited to buy a car recovering in post covid circumstances. In hard, uncertain economic times. This is my third mazda and my brother just bought one in November from a different dealer and NOTHING like this was experienced. Keep in mind that NONE OF THIS was shown on my invoice. NONE of this was discussed. It was all done under the table. MY FINAL agreement that I signed NEVER ONCE mentions any of the markup or the $1895. If I knew this I could have gotten a better car at my usual Mazda dealership. Garden City Mazda, say hello to everyone I will share this to on multiple different outlets. More
