Disapointed, this was once a good trustworthy place I took my 07 accord in because my clutch occasionally wasn't releasing properly and had a clutch master cylinder installed. On my way home I noticed I took my 07 accord in because my clutch occasionally wasn't releasing properly and had a clutch master cylinder installed. On my way home I noticed that the clutch was now stiff and slow to return to the top and it still occasionally wouldn't release. I called Josh and arranged to bring it back. Josh called me and said it now needs a new clutch for over $2600 !!! My wife and I decided that we'd pick up the car for now and return at a later date to trade it for a new accord. When I got in the accord to leave I noticed the clutch was now slipping badly, it wasn't slipping before. I coaxed it down the thruway and when we got off and stopped it wouldn't move. Luckily we had a tow strap in our explorer so we were able to get it the rest of the way home. I called a local shop and was quoted $1025 to replace the clutch that they intentionally fried because I declined the repair. Needless to say I won't be returning there to buy a new car. Update: As of today 3/14/16 the service manager never contacted me as Kevin Parker mentioned in his response. I had a new clutch assy. and flywheel installed at a transmission shop after Garber ruined it. They also had to replace the clutch master cylinder (at less then half the cost that Garber charged me) that Garber had installed because it failed, the pedal went to the floor and stayed there. As you can see by my initial review I returned the accord to them because the master cylinder they installed wasn't functioning properly, and the clutch wasn't slipping prior to this visit. To sum this up they cost me an unnecessary $1950.00. As a retired mechanic who thought that I could rely on this place because I had been a customer of Holtz Honda I'm really disappointed but not surprised after reading some of the other reviews. More
Sadly This Is Why I Do Not Go To Dealerships For Maintenance I typically perform my own maintenance work on all of my vehicles. After having a bad experience with the service department to address a wiring issue I typically perform my own maintenance work on all of my vehicles. After having a bad experience with the service department to address a wiring issue, the service manager provided a free oil change which was a well appreciated gesture. A few months later I returned to redeem my free oil change and also purchase a NY state inspection. After attempting to sell me $115 of cabin and air filters, I was told I would need wiper inserts at a cost of $7.99 each plus $10 for installation. When I responded to disregard the inspection, I was told it was too late and that I would have to pay the inspection fee no matter if it was passed or not. Needless to say I caved and purchased the $12 worth of parts for $26 which needed replacement on my 2015 Accord. Overall a very poor experience and I will not be back for service. I included 2 stars in recognition of the original service manager Debra Farra who was a pleasure to deal with. This is my fifth vehicle purchase from Garber and sadly their service will have me shopping around the next time I am in the market. More
Service Dept Tried to Rip Off My Wife I took my Honda to Garber about a year ago because the TPMS light would not turn off. They replaced the TPMS valve/sensor for $115 (including parts and labor). The TPMS light came on again a few weeks ago and my wife took the car to Garber for repair. They charged her $309 for the same repair I had received for $115!! She asked for an explanation and the service advisor told her there was a diagnostic charge, 2 hours labor, and the cost of parts. Later that day I called the service advisor and asked why the cost of the same repair had almost tripled. He said the repair involved removing the tire, changing the valve/sensor and re-mounting and balancing the tire. I told him the exact same work was done when I had the TPMS repair done and it only cost $115. He couldn't explain why the cost had tripled for identical work. I asked to speak to the service manager but the service advisor told me he'd look into it and call me back. He called back and said he had voided my wife's $309 credit card charge and the cost was reduced to $130. While I appreciated the cost reduction, I never received an explanation about the initial $309 charge or why the price was reduced - but it sure seems like they were trying to rip off my wife. Beware! PS - the service advisor also told my wife the right rear brake was sticking but she declined the extra service. I just had the the car inspected at Monro and they said the brakes were fine. Beware! More
Worst service department experience in 30 years! What an absolutely horrible experience we had at Garber Honda! I will never bring my car back there ever again. This is the second bad experience. At What an absolutely horrible experience we had at Garber Honda! I will never bring my car back there ever again. This is the second bad experience. At the first one they cracked our radiator and wouldn't own up to it. This time they sent me a coupon for a free inspection so I scheduled an appointment. I brought my car in at 12:45 and arranged for someone to pick me up. I was promised the car by 4:00 at the absolute latest, which is ridiculous for an inspection. At 3:30 when I was getting ready to come back to pick it up someone from Garber service called. They had JUST started on my car and said the engine light came on so it wouldn't pass. I find it unacceptable that my car was there almost 3 hours before it was touched, especially since I made an appt. They ALWAYS OVERBOOK and I am tired out of it. Our time is valuable. The man I talked to said he'd need time to diagnose why the light came on, but I had to be somewhere so I told him I would need to pick my car up at 4:00 like planned. What a waste of time! I was without my car most of the day and they got nothing done. If they had started working on it when they were supposed to they would have had plenty of time. Also, interestingly my check engine light was not on before or after I dropped it off. The next day I took the car to my private mechanic and it passed just fine. I was in and out in 15 min. So disappointed with Garber and still very upset about this experience!!! More
