I shopped online for my Honda Civic for about a week looking for a good deal and place to do business with. I received online quotes from about 2 out of the 5 dealerships I inquired with. Galpin Honda looking for a good deal and place to do business with. I received online quotes from about 2 out of the 5 dealerships I inquired with. Galpin Honda was 1 of the 5 that quickly responded with a quote and other vehicle information. The other dealership that responded was Power in Valencia. I went with Power's lower price and made an appointment. The worst mistake I could've made! When I got there they didn't have the car I wanted and told me they couldn't honor the price because of the "current market conditions"... I left and went over to Galpin to see a Internet consultant named Joe. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and made the experience what I hoped for. Their price was $400 more than what I was quoted by Power, but I gladly paid it to not get the run around on other aspects of the deal. To make a long story short, Galpin treated me well, had the car in stock, and didn't play games with the financing. I knew there were special rates available and they offered them to me right away. If you're looking for a no hassle experience give Galpin a shot - especially their Internet group. Joe was my salesman and his manager Joe were a breath of fresh air to work with. More
I had several offers from the internet for a 2008 Honda Ridgeline, which I thought was a great deal. So I call Galpin, seeing how credible the other Galpin dealerships were, thinking I would get that great Ridgeline, which I thought was a great deal. So I call Galpin, seeing how credible the other Galpin dealerships were, thinking I would get that great "customer service." Everything went downhill from Hello. So as soon as I get there I was greeted by Oscar, a salesman. I told him I came to see Junior, a fleet manager, and was introduced right away. He knew I was coming for the Ridgeline and told me that he had some 2007 he would love to sell me. I said let's talk about it. After a quick test drive, I mentioned that I got some offers with me, which he said was fine. But it went as smooth as paper cuts and lemon juice. As soon as he sees the price quote, the fleet manager gets the salesman to deal with me. All of a sudden, the 2007 Ridgeline, which was offered for 0% financing for 60 months, was NOT available. I thought this was ridiculous since before the price quote I brought in, he wanted to get rid of the 2007. In addition, the price quote I got from Riverside Honda (which by the way offered the best price quote out of 10 Honda dealerships in Southern California) was NOT HONORED. The reason they gave me: RIVERSIDE HONDA DOES NOT HAVE THE COLOR VEHICLE I WANTED SO THEY WERE LOW-BALLING AND BAIT-AND-SWITCHING ME ON THE PRICE!!!. Now I am thinking this has to be a joke, right? I mean, they will not honor the quote of the vehicle because they didn't have the color? Moving on, which was a big mistake, this was the ultimate sales tactic of the day. They would not even match the price of Carsdirect.com, which I also brought in because Carsdirect.com adds on "broker" fees, which does not exist. So the price was offered $600 more than my lowest price and the interest rate was 7.9%. The entire time, they are talking down payment and monthly payments. Read online about what to avoid during car purchasing and 10 out of 10 says avoid talking monthly payments. After 2 hours, the Sales manager, Alex, flat out told me if I don't buy this car at the price they gave me, somebody else will. So I got up and left. This was the worst car buying experience I have every had. I had better service when I was test driving when I was 18 years old! AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COST! ALL OF THE REVIEWS ABOUT THEM ARE 100% TRUE! More
I was very disappointed in my experience with Galpin Honda. For the record, I was a loyal Galpin customer and have bought my last 4 cars from them. (2 Explorers, an SHO and a Lincoln LS). I have had ver Honda. For the record, I was a loyal Galpin customer and have bought my last 4 cars from them. (2 Explorers, an SHO and a Lincoln LS). I have had very good service from other Galpin dealerships, but Galpin Hondal has lost it for them. In all fairness their sales rep Angle was friendly. But when it was time to talk numbers he turned us over to the sales manager Jorge. He would not give us a final price on the car. We told him that we had a written offer (via the internet) on a specific model and he practically called us a liar. Said that the price that we had received must not have included the SC Dealer Association fee, this cost, that cost, etc. He said that that car was very popular and had to get and was selling for above the MSRP. At that point, we made him an offer based on our homework from kbb.com and edmunds.com. It was basically splitting the difference from dealer invoice and MSRP. At that point he said that was out of the question and asked what we would really be willing to pay for it? We said thanks for your time that we needed to get going. The next day we got a call from Angle asking us if we were ready to buy. We asked him if they would sell it to us for our offer or... They still wouldn't give us a price with out coming back in. He said that he would talk to his sales manager and get back to us. When he called back, several hours past when he said he would, he said his sales manager wouldn’t discuss it over the phone and that we needed to come back in to continue the discussion. We restated our offer and he again said that he would talk to his SM. We also asked him, that if they wouldn't agree to our offer, then what would they sell it for? The whole process with Galpin Honda was a total waste of time! There was just no respect shown by these guys. They didn’t get back to us when they said they would They wouldn’t talk costs in good faith The sales manager was disrespectful and really copped an attitude You felt that they were ‘slippery’ and not honest No wonder car salesmen have such a bad reputation. I honestly thought Galpin was better than that. The truth is that we would have bought the car from Galpin Honda based on my previous experiences with other Galpin dealerships had we been treated have way respectably, but the fact of the matter is that they did everything possible to lose our business and absolutely nothing to gain it. The good news is we ended up discovering Kolbe Honda on Reseda Blvd. and were treated excellently by them and that’s where we bought the car. More
