IF YOU’RE CONSIDERING BUYING A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE FROM GALPIN HONDA. STOP AND READ THIS REVIEW FIRST. We purchased a certified pre-owned 2021 Honda Odyssey last month from Galpin Honda. VEHICLE FROM GALPIN HONDA. STOP AND READ THIS REVIEW FIRST. We purchased a certified pre-owned 2021 Honda Odyssey last month from Galpin Honda. This is a long post but worth reading if you are considering purchasing a “Certified Pre-Owned” vehicle from Galpin Honda. Issue #1 Finance: We already had a loan approved through Orange County’s Credit Union. We let the salesman know that we wanted an Option Contract. Which means we have 7 days to fund the purchase of the van with our credit union or the financing will go through Galpin Honda, which was Honda financial. I have a 692 credit score. The dealership called the next day and said Honda Denied my financing… I already had a written contract with Honda’s finance terms. It’s contractually agreed. That alone is grounds for a lawsuit for breech of contract. Anyways Orange County Credit union was giving me a 6% loan and Honda was 7% so they were much better. Next option would have been Kinetca already approved me a 7% loan as a backup. Issue #2 “Certified Pre-Owned” The “Certified Pre Owned” van had 3 separate panels repainted! The Front bumper, rear bumper and rear hatch had been repainted! I didn’t bother looking for repaint on a 2 year old van with 25k miles because I assumed they wouldn’t put a vehicle under the certified program that has 3 panels repainted. I commented to the salesman that I was surprised that there were 0 service records on Carfax. He said that it was a lease that they serviced. He printed out a paper that shows all the service. This same paper also shows the vehicle was sent to the body shop one month before I bought it for FRONT BUMPER AND REAR HATCH REPAIR. I was surprised to find out legally dealerships can repaint the vehicles and still certify them just as long as there is no frame damage. When you repaint a car the paint doesn’t last as long as the factory paint and in about 5 years you’ll really be able to tell that it was repainted. Guess I’ll have to repaint the van in 5 years. I had an independent inspection done from a body shop and they confirmed the above to be true. The rear hatch doesn’t close fully right. The week after I bought it I had Galpin service address the issue of the hatch. They adjusted it and greased it. It works better but you can still tell it’s still slightly off. ISSUE #3 SERVICE The rear brakes were also squealing so loud that it could be heard with the windows up. I brought the van back a week after I bought it and they turned the rotors but that didn’t fix anything. Still squeaks. I’m too busy to bring back again and I’m tired of nit picking. On the service inspect report the technician put “NO NOISE”. Guess I’m just crazy. After paying $33k for a mini van I just want everything to work. I really regret not going to a different dealership and just buying a new van or buying a certified pre-owned. This is the 4th vehicle I’ve bought from Galpin over a 12 year period. Never had a problem until now. Such a shame. I guess their quality has gone down drastically because of the lack of inventory. Quality shouldn’t be sacrificed due to low volume. I even mentioned that I had my 2019 Pilot that I bought from them that was perfect and they didn’t even bother inspecting it to see if they can compete with Carvana’s offer. I assume they need a bigger profit margin than whatever Carvana was paying. My sales rep was great. He was very fast. Assuming he wasn’t the one lying about the financing and that he was unaware that the car was smacked in the front and rear. I place the blame on the used car manager. This car should not have been a certified pre owned. If you don’t care about having a car that’s been in an accident and had panels repainted then disregard my review. More
