After getting the run around from Friendship Hyundai of Bristol (see my review on that location for that experience) I came to this location to finally try and buy a car. Hyundai advertised on their offic Bristol (see my review on that location for that experience) I came to this location to finally try and buy a car. Hyundai advertised on their official website an amazing deal, when I spoke to the dealer and got down to the paperwork and money discussion I kept being told they "have no idea how Hyundai lists the number they do". Eventually, some manager came to speak to me about the price. He told me the MSRP listed on Hyundai's website is not correct and they advertise crazy deals to get people in and then they have to be the bearers of bad news to people. All while we were looking at the MSRP of a vehicle that Friendship jacked up nearly $5000 from what the manufacturer says. That's right, Friendship alters the MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE and then tells you they sell cars for MSRP price and no haggling.... The manager then told me the car I wanted at the price I wanted "doesn't exist" while offering me a price that is 2.6x the price advertised by Hyundai's official promotion. That's right, a deal supposed to cost me $240/month was running me around $650 if I bought from Friendship. Well, I drove to Grayson Hyundai in Knoxville instead and I purchased the car that doesn't exist at the price that is "mathematically impossible". I asked them how they could do it if Friendship couldn't and they couldn't even make sense of it. My only guess is that Friendship wanted to pocket the $10000 rebate offered on the car for themselves vs giving it to me to get the advertised pricing. The bottom line here, do not buy from Friendship, it's a complete ripoff. They have the only Hyundai dealerships around here and they take advantage of it. Go out of town to literally anyone else. The two hour drive into Knoxville saves you a LOT. Update: The manager, Chase, contacted me about my review. I do not know what outcome he expected, but this man called me to argue with me about my review and stated that I misunderstood the situation, mind boggling! Please never give this company the time of day. More
This is the best car dealership - used or new - that I have ever run across. The people are friendly and low-pressure. There is no shady backroom dealing. Prices are reasonable, and they give something have ever run across. The people are friendly and low-pressure. There is no shady backroom dealing. Dealing with their service department has been a nightmare. Took my car to get an oil changed and to have the locking mechanism looked at because the motor was making a horrible noise. I dropped it nightmare. Took my car to get an oil changed and to have the locking mechanism looked at because the motor was making a horrible noise. I dropped it off at 1:30 in the afternoon and didn’t get it back until the next day. They told me they didn’t have the part and I could just come pick up my car and they would order it, but when I got there no one could find my order or my keys to give me to take my car home. 30 minutes later they found my keys and told me they would call me when the part came in. One month later I hadn’t heard anything so I decided to call them just to see if there were any updates. They said that they had the part and that they must’ve missed me on the call list. I scheduled an appointment for two weeks later to have it fixed. I told him upfront that I had a warranty through Carmax and I wanted to make sure that it would only cost me the deductible fee. They told me twice on the phone that I would only owe the deductible. When I dropped the car off to have the motor on the passenger side door lock replaced at 12:30 in the afternoon I told them that I needed my car back by tonight, and if they couldn’t to give me a call around 5 o’clock so I could make arrangements because I had to work. 530 came and no call so finally I called them and they said oh it just finished you were next on the list to call. Had to leave the car overnight and pick it up the next day… Again. When I went to pick it up they tried to charge me almost $500 for replacing the part. I had to go through the Carmax information with them again, even though I had already given them the number and been reassured twice that I wouldn’t be charged. About a week after dropping the car off I actually rode on the passenger side of my car, and keep in mind I was the first person to ride over there since having it looked at, and realized that while the sound was gone the door was not automatically locking at all. So that means I had been running around for a week with my passenger side door unlocked and didn’t know. I called the service department to let them know and schedule an appointment to come back. When I brought it back today they told me that it was going to be $386 to fix it and they would also charge me a $150 fee to have my car looked at at all. When I explained the situation again they told me that it could not have been their fault… But it seems kind of fishy that they worked on the passenger side lock and all the sudden it stopped working? Especially since it was locking before, just making a awful noise. They were nice enough to take the charge off for the evaluation today because they didn’t tell me about it upfront. All of this to say, I would never go back to their service department nor would I recommend it to anyone ever again. More
I see reviews and wonder how much people were paid to post "good" reviews. I would not recommend them. Not very friendly and does not really seem to want anything to do with you after the sale unless you post "good" reviews. I would not recommend them. Not very friendly and does not really seem to want anything to do with you after the sale unless you are spending more money with them. My daughter purchased a new 2021 Tuscan. not 6 months old put down a good sum of money was forced to use their financing. she really liked the car so went on ahead and she did it. This is now the 3rd time the vehicle will not start. 1st 2 times told "That's weird" or "Nothing we can do unless we see it" ok it does not start, kind of hard to take to them. Never was oh you. did finally get it started? bring it in let us take a look. Now it does not start at all. can't even use the fancy app to remote start it. Now she has to pay $150.00 to have it towed to them so they can see it. can't get a rental was told we don't do that unless we figure out which part we have to replace And how little g it will take to get here. so now my daughter who is a traveling nurse has to call in on her job and lose money on a problem she previously reported. yes nice Friendly people when making the sale it's after the sale you have to watch for. my wife and I are looking to get a new car. it won't be from here. Had timing belt changed cost $700.00 they didn't change timing belt tensioner which you can ask any BEWARE !!!!! Stay away from this Shop please!!! Had timing belt changed cost $700.00 they didn't change timing belt tensioner which you can ask any Shop that it should be replaced at the same time as belt change. Tensioner went bad less than 18,000 miles later. Now they want to charge another 500 just to look at it. Please if you need to have your Hyundai or any car serviced or repaired, Do not use this Shop!! I highly recommend using Superior Auto in Piney Flats, TN or H-Tek in Gray, TN. Both Owners are HONEST, RELIABLE and Guarantee their work at a Better price. I thought having the repair completed by a "CERTIFIED HYUNDAI TECHNICIAN" WAS GOING TO BE THE BEST SERVICE FOR MY CAR, BECAUSE OF THEIR SUPPOSED EXPERIENCE. HOWEVER I ENDED UP WITH SECOND RATE SERVICE with the shop wanting to charge more for a service that should have been completed correctly the 1st time. I own 2 Hyundai's and this SHOP will never Service either ever again!!! Dissatisfied and Disappointed Ex Customer of JOHNSON CITY HYUNDAI More
The car we purchased had several thousands of dollars of damage. The salesman said it was in "perfect" condition. The damage was obvious when the ac went out after 5 months. They basically said too bad it w damage. The salesman said it was in "perfect" condition. The damage was obvious when the ac went out after 5 months. They basically said too bad it was sold as is. Honesty and transparency do not exist at this dealership! Lesson learned. More
